i am with jolinar on this one. a certain purple player has been acquiring territories all over edmonton and region recently and while everyone hates to lose a territory, everyone hates to lose a territory more to a player that wasn't actually there.

will those territories be rolled back or do they have to be reacquired?

Lol, I know exactly the user you are talking about. I play on my ipod Touch (which is pretty much impossible to compete with in any meaningful way, but fun nonetheless), and a couple of the territories I continually battle for are at the Edmonton airport and in Leduc... I figured out pretty quickly mr. hilltop was able to attack without actually being physically there. One time I took the airport square, and within 2 minutes buddy took it back! Heck of a coincidence. Anyway, I emailed Kev and he confirmed my suspicions. Can this user keep doing this until he voluntarily gets the update? Seems like he still has the ability even today. Btw, I'm user "mozorotti".

I thought this as well, so I started renaming the territories with cryptic messages... mostly accusing him of being a cheater, lol. It's not his fault though. I just wonder if he has no idea this is a programming error, and thinks this is just how the game is played!

I hadn't played this thing in a long time but fired it up in the past week and figured I should check here as to what the hell was going on with that purple guy. No matter time or where I am, he'll take the territory back in a matter of a minute.

Also noticed a big issue with renaming an area, takes about 5 times to type it out before it'll accept it. Most times it just reverts to "Unknown" right away.

But that purple guy is definitely ruining the game in Edmonton.

This is exactly it. The error was by the programer who created the WP7 app. He didn't realize users aren't supposed to be able to do this.

That's why we can't return any territories. We have submitted a patch that will fix the problem and WP7 users get those updates pushed to them so it should update all the outdated apps.

So i got to thinking about this a little bit...

and when you watch the manner of attack, and the way that the purple player is acquiring territories, then i would suggest that this player is well aware of the way that they are playing. if the player has the ability to attack anyone, anywhere, at will, at any time, then why does the player attack along traffic routes. In other words, why does the player try to make it look like they are travelling along a route to acquire territories? That is definitely cheating because it is an attempt to fool people into thinking that it is legitimate travel when we all know that it is not.

I know what the rules of engagement are with respect to cheating, and yah, i'm going there.

In the interest of fair disclosure, i had a territory with over 270,000 troops in it. When i went to bed last night, i remained in control. Pretty large number of troops to either use propaganda or nukes on. I got up this morning to find that apparently my square was wiped out earlier yesterday, although it was done in a way to suggest that a route was "driven".

it is interesting that people think that they have been targeted. I watched the purple player take over RangerRebel in Beaumont and area, attack farther and farther north, cross the river, and my thoughts were that it was my turn and the player was now going to target me. and that's what has happened.

i really do feel that this person is exploiting a programming flaw and cheating; couldn't any of us just get a Win7 app and play like that?

Here's the thing. He needs to have physically gone to the territory at least once to be able to attack. He needs to have 1 troop in the territory. That's why he's attacking along a route, because he's driven it before.

He could be exploiting the flaw or just not have any idea that's not how the game is played.

We can't return troops or territories because the numbers are changing hands constantly. It would be fair to you but unfair to others.

As I said, contact us via support@bnid.ca with your username and we'll compensate those affected in another way.

So i get your point about having to have one troop in each territory, but please explain to me how so many players are saying exactly the same thing about the same player; it isn't a coincidence.

And when you look at the times between squares, i see unbelievable "driving times". Getting one square and then going home and blowing players away, because at one time you were in a square, just isn't right. it isn't exploiting a program, it is cheating.

I'm sorry but this player is cheating the game and I don't think that I or any other players, that have played completely within the game rules, should be unfairly punished for this. You say that the squares are changing constantly, and i get that, but you must also be able to look at your GPS grid specifically and see what is happening around Edmonton. When you see how game play has gone in the past, to me it is unthinkable that one player could suddenly take over an entire geography.

I see one player getting a huge break here and lots of players getting punished for it. It looks "fair" to one player and unfair to many, many more.

just because i can trip a player behind the play when no one is looking doesn't mean that i should.

Let me try to explain this again.

To him, he isn't cheating because in the WP7 version of the game you don't have physically be in a territory to attack. This was a MISTAKE by the programer who coded the game for us. It is our fault this is happening.

We can't punish all the WP7 players who purchased the game for an error we made. He isn't the only person using the game this way.

The reason we didn't advertise the error was that we didn't want more people to be affected than already have. Microsoft is usually pretty quick at turning around updates. So we were hoping it was released before more WP7 players played this way. Unfortunately, this guy is in one of our more concentrated playing areas.

This is why we're trying to compensate those players who are affected by our mistake. But they have to email us at support@bnid.ca with their username.

The subject in question also attack me in the same way taking about 40 from me. But I don't need any compensation. However, I do have a new problem and it is happening more and more. If I try and manipulate the map by moving it or zooming in and out, the grid disappears and my gps location locks into one place even if I have moved.

If I turn off the Iphone and restart it, that solves the problem.

Nope. The guy just hasn't logged out. He couldn't collect troops but could attack...

We've taken an extra step to prevent him from attacking.
