LOL Tom Hicks, B#$% me #%$@face. You got swindled, and we love it. It IS however, your fault.
On the Rocks is right, but if you're in the North, the other pub is Fiddler's Courtyard (hence my question over on RAWK)
Both pubs should be open for all televised games (which neither tie with THIS IS SPARTA PRAGA!!! is) Sooo bright n' early Sunday the 27th 6:30am. No early license, but they have coffee and breakfast. All you can ask for really.
Also, if you pop into On The Rocks by any point, you'll find it quite well decorated. The big red "Calgary Reds" flag above the bar has been to the Kop (I flew it there, other members held it at the Kop, and yet another flew it back, lol).

Joe Cole stays committed to Liverpool.
I suppose thats good, when a player doesnt have much of an opportunity, but he is a quality player, that hes willing to stick around and give it a try.
Also, Kenny talking about bringing so many young players to the Sparta Prague match, which I thought was funny just the way he worded it to the media:
Quote:
Meanwhile, Dalglish insists the club are realistic about the prospects of their up-and-coming young players and none will be thrown into the first team until they are ready.
All the hype prior to the goalless draw surrounded whether 16-year-old prodigy Raheem Sterling would become the club's youngest player.
"The young lads have sent postcards home and everything - they were looking for a rock shop but couldn't find one,'' joked Dalglish about their Prague trip. "They weren't here for a jolly, they were here because we were short of players.
"Conor Coady was on the bench which meant we needed at least one of them. He's a midfield player and we were short there and he was on the bench because he has done well for the academy.
"They are all deserving to be here. They are a bit young maybe to be pushed in but then if they were asked I'm sure they wouldn't have let us down through lack of effort.
"The most important thing is we have to be realistic. There was no way we were bringing them over hoping to get headlines.
"We brought them because we needed them and if we didn't have to use them that was in their interest as well as ours, but if we did have to use them we could have.''

I was just perusing some Liverpool articles online, and I stumbled upon a pretty awesome story.
Quote:
I was in my local pub in Southampton (I moved there from Liverpool 21 years ago) having a pint or two when the landlord came down to do his shift. I was all prepared for our usual banter about his dislike for Liverpool (he strangely thinks Saints are much better) when he came out with “full respect to Kenny and Liverpool football club”. I thought “here we go” thinking here comes the dig. He then went on to tell me a story of a local who is a nice lad who just found out he had a very aggressive form of cancer and he has less than 2 months to live. His mum phoned up L.F.C. and explained to the lad on the phone how he was a massive Liverpool fan and had never been to Anfield and his one wish was to see his beloved club once before he died. The lad on the other end of the line listened to her story which was just to get some autographs of his favourite players. The lad said to her “can I call you back in 20 minuets please?” 10 minuets later her phone rang and the voice on the other end said in a Scottish accent “Hello this is Kenny Dalglish here can I speak to your son please.

That is amazing.
Hopefully they kick the stuffing out of Sparta Prague at Anfield tonight.
I'm hoping the boys can secure a spot in the Top 4 this season still. Chase down one of Chelsea, City or Spurs and get in there so we can have Champions League soccer again.

That was awesome. Sucks that Stevie's hurt, but we need him for the League.
These were two really uninspiring performances with the occasional play of Meireles and Kuyt being the only real bright spots.
It'll be great once Carroll can play because Suarez is cup tied. They need a striker other than David NoGoal.

Wont be Chelsea, according to John Terry. He still claims Chelsea are going to win the title.

Far as the match, just got to follow the commentary online. Good on Dirk to get one, he needs to find his confidence a bit. If himself and Meireles can pot the odd one here or there, and have Carroll Stevie and Suarez drive them home otherwise, I love how our scoring looks.

Its looking okay, its getting better, we need to get back to stringing some wins together, the draw with Wigan is points dropped and they cant afford to continue doing that.

the Telegraph has a running "race for top 4" article and has Chelsea finishing the season undefeated with something like 7 wins and 5 draws and finishing 3rd
so its not only JT who is drinking the kool aid
I think they are going to miss, and its going to be great, because their wage structure can't function without CL money
was wondering if you guys would even want Europa next year either? I think not being in it helped Spurs with rest
and if Arsenal win this weekend 6th place gets the Europa spot, if Birmingham win they get it

I'd love to see Chelsea miss. The Telegrpah is really stretching what was a pretty poor CL showing, despite them managing to win, and translating that into some sort of league form.
Chelsea are in tough if Spurs remain solid, Liverpool dont quite have what it takes this season I dont think, and City are wildly inconsistent, but if they manage it, I dont see what Chelsea are going to do.
That being said, Liverpool have a long, long ways to go to get back into the CL. For instance, look at the last couple of Europa matches, Kenny is playing reserves and more or less getting away with it, that wouldnt fly in the CL, this squad would need a lot more depth than it currently has.
Would you even want Europa matches? I think so, new teams and European nights are still good, but more importantly the teams still get paid, and thats crucial to conforming to the new salary structure regulations.

Well, better be 3 points tomorrow considering we've got the Hammers. 6:30am kickoff though, oi. Joe Cole should play, but no Carroll yet.

Has it struck anyone else lately that the Flames and Liverpool are very similar this season? I thought about this the other day, and I think the year of one team has mirrored the other.
- Disastrous starts to the season
- Around mid-season, manager of LFC is sacked and Sutter resigns
- New manager for LFC, new GM for Flames
- Remarkable climb up the standings for both teams
So how awesome would it be if the Flames ended up with a playoff spot, and Liverpool qualified for Europe, given how terribly both clubs started this season?

The thought's crossed my mind. I remember the low point was the world juniors final. Being a Flames, LFC, and Canada fan, all 3 of my teams lost that day. One of my worst days in sports ever. The Flames and Liverpool have both done such a job of turning things around, it's easy to be excited again.
