Lets hope that Raonic can win this in two sets. He seems a little off today.

Yup, and he won mad! He's steaming! Didn't even shake the umpires hand cause the umpire is blind.

With this win Raonic enters the top 50 so it was a big deal to him and you could see it in his emotion.

He now awaits the winner of Querrey v Fish

I am not too excited about it but I don't like that Raonic did not shake the umpires hand. Even Kendrick shook his hand. I wonder if his coach will say anything to him.

Yes his coach will say something because it's immature.
But it was a huge match for him and his emotions showed. You could see the temper and the fire in him. I don't mind that.

Top 50 on the tour opens alot of doors He now gets direct entry into ATP 1000 tournaments.

Imagine if he's seeded at Roland Garros in May.

That would be spectacular. Does Raonic have much experience on Clay? or success for that matter? I can't imagine Clay would suit his game, but many players struggle on clay court. Kid is only 20 so things look very promising.

Absolutely. I liked seeing the fire from him.

I hope he gets a good rest because his next match will be a tough one.

No idea. Don't think his game right now is suited for clay but he's training in Spain and his coach was a dirtballer so how knows!

I remember an exhibition at the Saddledome between Connors and Lendl. It was supposed to be McEnroe-Lendl but Johnny Mac pulled out for reasons I can't remember. I want to say that this was around 1990, but I can't be sure.

Tickets sold out quickly.

Yeah I think that's the way to go.
If we have an ATP tournament where the best player is Roddick or Verdasco or Monfils then do we really want to have one?

Like in golf, would we rather host a Skins Game or a crappy PGA tournament?

Roanic gets Fish tomorrow.

Calgary hosted the Davis Cup recently at the Corral. I covered it in 2008 and it was very well done. It was a great weekend event and I have no doubt we could do a challenger. There's plenty of room for press and a few thousand people can attend. I didn't seen it through the eyes of the audience, but Tennis Canada treated me very well. The Corral has the space on the east and west sides, while closer stands were set-up on the north and south ends so spectators could sit closer.

My fear is there's a big difference between a weeklong ATP event and a weekend Davis Cup event involving Canada.

Would anyone go on a Tuesday morning to see two guys ranked 70 play? I would compare the organization needed to pull off such an event to something like the Brier.

It is definitely hard to say. With the Davis Cup, I remember it was on a long weekend (maybe even this one?). I covered all-day Friday and all-day Saturday. Tons of people were even there for the afternoon Friday session, but that has a lot to do with many folks taking the day off. It was Canada versus Mexico, so the quality of play wasn't stellar. Dancevic was injured and Raonic was just a young kid watching from the stands. Nestor was the only really name there.

I don't have the time right now to do the research, but...when is the last time a Canadian woman has reached a tourny final? Wow. The start of the 2011 season has been real good for this sport in our country. Outstanding stuff.

wow, that's a good trivia question.

Wozniak's never been to a final.

I know Helen Kelesi played in a few finals around 1990.

Anyone in between?
