And yes Verdasco's always been a crybaby. He's unliked on tour.

He comes to a hard court tournament and whines. There's a clay court tournament going on right now in Buenos Aires. He should be there if he wants to beat up on nobodies.

So Raonic is warming up.

As was stated earlier, it's on Sportsnet One.

The commentators apologizing for talking about Raonic so much. You don't hear that too often.

Yes, Raonic has some more work to do. We shall see how mentally tough he is. I think this kind of test is a good thing in the long run.

I think mentally he's ok, he's gotta hold serve this first game.

But physically, he's pretty tired.

Looks like they both are tired. It sure has gotten quiet in the stadium.

Raonic responds well in the 3rd set tie break to move on: 6-4, 6-7, 7-6. I'd say this match was a good learning lesson for him. There were some points in the second set tie break he should have won and then he could have finished off the match. Good on Raonic to fight that much adversity in one match.

And Stepanek is a good sport. Kudos.

Yup but Stepanek made some unbelievable shots in that epic 2nd set tiebreak. And he's always been a good sport, one of the goofiest and well-liked guys on tour.

Must be frustrating for him though, to play that well and fight for a couple hours (watching about 40 aces go by) only to have it fall apart in about 5 minutes in the tiebreak.

Raonic gets Kendrik next which on paper is much easier than the previous two matches... but Raonic is tired. Hope they give him a later start time tomorrow.

Roddick survives in a 2nd set tiebreak and broke two rackets and a temper tantrum.

I just noticed there is no hawkeye in this tournament so Roddick will always think he's right.

I want to cheer for Roddick, but then he pulls crap like that and I know why I don't.

Schedule is out for tomorrow.

http://www.memphistennis.com/userfil...Friday2011.pdf

Raonic is first on court 9AM MT.
Marino is last on court in the day session.. so around 2pm MT?

Sportsnet One will again show Roanic but not sure they'll hang around to show Marino. Do they have a WTA feed?

What are the chances that Calgary would get one of these lower level ATP tournaments like the one in Memphis? Looking at the facility they use in Memphis it doesn't look like it would be that expensive to build. I'm sure Calgary would do a better supporting it as well.

Don't know if there's much tennis interest in Calgary. It may grow as Raonimania grows. No sponsor or businessman would take the risk to organize it. I went to Davis Cup a couple of years ago and the couldn't even sell out 3/4 of the Corral and that's with Canada playing!

ATP wouldn't just give out tour events, might have to start in the challengers/satellite and nobody would go see that.

The only thing I can see Calgary doing in the future is having exhibitions. Invite four guys and four girls in for a weekend and see what kind of support that gets.

--------------

Speaking of Raonic, he's up early. It's a good sign when your opponent is smashing rackets 7 games in!

Raonic wins the first set 6-4.

His last service game to take the set... 2 double faults followed by 4 aces. The other guy was just a spectator. LOL.
