There was a horrible situation in the bathroom at my work today, and I couldn't remember CPR. I registered for a new class this morning, just waiting for approval. I really hope I get in.

I took CPR a while back and within a year, I'm sure I've forgotten most of what I learned. Definitely need to keep it up as well as continually do refreshers.

I took an actual CPR class a few years ago because I thought I was going to get pair for it. But then work decided I shouldn't get 8 hours of overtime for it, so I totally wasted a Saturday.

Is it every three years you are supposed to take first aid again? I don't think that's enough. I have never had to use first aid or CPR and I know that I've forgotten most of what they teach you. You're right, I think you have to use it, or you lose it.
Something like that.
First Aid isn't that hard to remember though. The actual procedure of doing CPR isn't hard to remember either. But beyond that, unless you're using it on a daily basis, whether in training, or out in the field, you're screwed. I can't remember patient assessment once I get to the scene of an accident, and that was one of the most important things we learned.
