Why do you think Rudy G. would be good? He seems like yesterday's news and he failed miserably in the 2008 when supposedly he was peaking!

I've never denied that Obama is in the vein of JFK when it comes to making speeches, he has a hell of a speech writer.

I still don't really respect him much as a president, but he's did good tonight.

Anyone see that interview with the little girl's family on Anderson Cooper?

Everyone should be embarrassed about all the finger-pointing, blame-casting and political point-scoring after listening to those people talk.

Just watched the speech. That was unbelievable; at the beginning, I actually found him a bit stiff, and the adoring crowd was a bit inappropriate in their applause. By the end, he had hit all the right notes. I don't know what I expected, but that was something else.

That about sums it up for me, too.

That was a great speech. He really is trying to be every American's President. Unfortunately, the positive sentiment will fade away almost immediately for most. I'm not trying to be overtly negative when I say that. As a matter of fact as I was watching the service I couldn't help but get caught up in the overwhelming positivity of it. At one point I even thought that perhaps the political rhetoric would die down as a result of this incident and the President's speech...

...and then I turned to CNN to listen to Anderson Cooper and his octo-box of pundits. Immediately after the speech they were breaking it down into it's political points and judging it as they would any other political speech rather than judging it as a memorial and reassurance for the nation. They completely took it out of context and were counting the political hits and misses from the speech. Maybe they had such a clinical reaction because they are entrenched into the political machinery of Washington, but regardless, I was immediately snapped back to the cold, negative, partisan reality.

For now, most of the mainstream political leaders will tone down the rhetoric. However, as soon as it is politically expedient the "sharp political divisions" will be on parade once again in Washington and the political media. They enjoy their own game far too much to really deviate from it longterm.

Was the crowd booing the AZ governor when she went to speak?

Obama's message did not resonate for long. CNN and MSNBC went immediately to discussion of Palin.

I have always liked him. He fails in the Republican party because he's far too liberal on the 'conservative issues' like abortion (he believes in a woman's 'right to choose' although he says he's against it, far too left for GOP). He is pro gay rights and opposed Bush's ban on gay marriage. He was tough on crime in NYC and crime dropped (in half some say) when he took office.

Here is a good link to look at his core values/beliefs:

http://www.ontheissues.org/rudy_giuliani.htm

Not saying I want him to be president, I just think he's probably more open minded than the other GOPers. If anyone would have to be on the ticket, I'd feel better if it were Rudy. (Compared to Palin and even Romney-urgh)

I can't vote anyway, but if Palin is even nominated to run, I will do everything I can to uproot the family and move back to Canada.

Default Obama can really give a speech

Too bad he is can't govern at the same level.

Odd that MSNBC went straight after Palin. Usually the put Chris Matthews up for the "tingley" moments of adoration before they move on. That they spent so little time on the positive moment and went straight to the negative is a sure symptom of the problem. MSNBC seems to be the left what Fox is to the right.

I thought Rudy acted shamefully in trying to make political capital from 9/11.

Pretty sad that MSNBC immediately began talking about Palin after.

They sure aren't part of the solution.

Giffords opened her eyes on her own and can reach out to touch her husband now. Pretty incredible considering she was shot through the brain 5 days ago.

Great speech by Obama, but the crowd was acting like it was at a Yankees game cheering on A Rod. Kind of disrespectful considering what the speech was going to be about.
