According to initial reports, Democrat congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 17 others have been shot at a Tuscon Ariz. grocery store. Giffords was apparently shot in the head.

CNN has some guy from the Arizona Daily Star saying "the right has been stoking the fires of violence in this state" and yakking about the "gun fetish".

This is going to be ugly.

Agreed, if this was politically motivated then it could light a massive powder keg. I was in Georgia a month ago and the hatred for Obama and the "left" was scary. As crazy as it sounds this may start some level of retribution with the nut job left wingers (assuming a nut job right winger was the shooter).

Deepest condolences for the victims on their families, such a senseless tragedy.

It's going to be a long and lean next couple of years for the United States and things could get bad on their long slow road to economic recovery. One can only hope that violence like this will not become commonplace.
