Yeah, I mention huong in my original post. I've been twice and both times it was reasonably good, not great.
Maybe I owe them another shot.

The "Tauros" beside the Sobeys on Country Hills Blvd in Coventy should be avoided. Not all Viet places are good.
Also there is a Soup Kitchen in Marbrough near the Gold's Gym and Staples that has good Pho. Anyone know the name of it by chance?

i tried bolsa today... can't say i'm that impressed.... over $11 for a large bowl of pho?! what the rice is that!? I hate how SW and NW vietnamese restaurants are significantly more expensive than NE and SE restaurants, when more often than not, the quality and taste is far superior in the ghetto.
but i will give bolsa points for good service and friendly owners... still doesn't justify the premium though.
favorite spots in the city are still pho thanh, pho xuan, basil, pho huong, in that order

Prices are good, people are great, food is above average. Very good spot.

I was over in the hood today and had Pho Dau Bo. It was crap. The broth was too runny.

I stopped in at Pho Dau Bo yesterday. While it was certainly not as good as it usually is or used to be, I can't say honestly that it was "crap". It was missing something for sure, but it was still better than most other places.
I also tried the Sate Beef Pho at the Viet Sub Express across from the Rusty Cage on 37th. It was decent, I really like that place, it's close to my house and so cheap.

Apparently the owners that took over a few years ago have had some run-ins with the police... PDB was one of their fronts apparently.
So glad Basil is open, IMO best Pho in the city.
If OP is downtown, Sunny's is a good place for Pho 111 2 Ave SE
Also I can't remember the name, but there is a Pho place pretty much across the street from Pho Dau Bo... awesome bowl of Pho.
I love Pho Kim just because of the name. If I ever open a Pho restaurant, I would want to call it something like 'Pho King Awesome!'
Now here's another question, who has the best Cha Gio????

I don't think so - What is your source for this? The AHS website lists no such violations that lead to a closure order on the last 3 years.

I was at Basil for a nice big bowl of sate beef pho tonight.
Having eaten there and at Pho Dau Bo within the last four days, I am fully comfortable saying Basil has the best sate beef pho in Calgary.
The bowl I had tonight was awesome. It was the perfect spice level, just enough to make my nose run and make me ask for a glass of water, just on the cusp of being uncomfortable. Haven't had a bowl of pho like that in a long, long time.
Delicious!

That looks pretty delicious. I will make a point of trying it out sometime, but I'll have to order it without tomatoes. I hate tomatoes.

Tried Bolsa over the weekend and thought it was OK. I honestly thought it was just beef pho with a scoop of chile sauce. That and it seemed a little overpriced.
Based on the restaurants I have tried, Sunny's has the best Beef Sate Pho in Calgary.
