You are right about the extremes and the amount of people who are probably in the middle and not on a side, but an event like this can't help but make things worse for everyone (which you also said).

The Congresswomen was calling for a crackdown on illegal immigration. Perhaps someone thought she was betraying her party.

What are the chances this was just a wrong place wrong time incident?
If it happened at a grocery store, maybe it was just a guy going postal and happened to shoot a congresswoman?

I don't know, I think it could have the opposite effect. Hopefully some of these wingnuts take a step back and say "goddamn, we are acting effing crazy, we've really gotta cool it".

there was a political event being hosted by the congresswoman at that grocery store, zero chance of this being "wrong place wrong time"

I preach to people the reliability of Twitter for breaking news vs conventional media, but today Twitter has been entirely unreliable.

I do believe this is the shooter's YouTube channel... working to confirm.

Why is everyone making this a political thing? A child was killed too, outside a Safeway grocery store, by some nutjob 22 year old kid. It may have been an attack on the Congress Woman or it may have been random, but I doubt it's some kind of political conspiracy.

I dont think anyone is saying the republican party instructed this guy to do this. But its hard not to think the power of suggestion might have something to do with this.

Likely not a conspiracy... but surely it's politically motivated. If you want to just get some steam off your chest you probably wouldn't shoot a congresswoman and a judge.

Because there is a large number of Canadians, especially young Canadians, who have a very warped sense of the American reality.

Yeah, if you browse other forums that are mainly populated by Americans, none of them are making the same type of comments about this incident as you see in this thread. No sir, not at all. It's only us Canadians who have a very warped sense of the American reality who are thinking that the shooting of a congresswoman might be politically motivated.

I'm fairly certain Brodie Fan was talking about those who have posted in this thread, not the world inclusive.

The apologists in this thread are embarrassing.

I have no idea if this d'bag was politically motivated or not, but it is pretty unusual to shoot 18 people when only 1 is a specific target and you are trying to make some sort of warped statement.
