I got to 81.5 last night, suffering this morning. Questing is a nightmare on my server at least. Since I work all day, I'm pretty much going to be stuck with the zerg all the way to 85.
At first, XP wasn't being rewarded, so one of my guildmates figured that all the old Dailies were giving no XP and dumped them all. I ended up turning them in afterwards and got 1/3rd of a level.

Once I hit 60 leveling slowed down quite a bit. About 2 - 2.5 hours per level of straight playing at a guess. Another thing that helps with the leveling is spells don't have ranks anymore. They scale with your level. Like for a Warlock, shadow bolt is shadow bolt, you don't need rank 2, 3, 4, etc. So you don't have to run back to Org/UC to get new spells every few levels. I rarely to the main cities unless I need a new spell thats a must have. Under level 60 the levels go really fast. I was getting at least 3 levels a night once I hit my 20's and 30's up to level 60.

It takes me about one hour per level in the 40s. I suppose I could do it faster, but I like to go back to a city sometimes to auction items and train.

Highly advise you don't rush it anyways.
The leveling experience is probably the best part about World of Warcraft and people forget that. With the Re-done zones it is again a whole new experience with multiple paths that one can take.
Enjoy it and smell the roses !

It is very, very out dated, time to upgrade.. :/
Haven't got to try much but I like the way the goblins run so far lol..

I actually don't gank people... I'm just too much of a softie, but I play on a PvP server. I like the added pressure of needing to be careful while questing so that I don't get ganked.

I bought it and will wait until the weekend to try it out. I hate the questing bonanzas every time an expansion comes out.

Took me a little longer than I expected, but I was able to get Realm First: 85 Hunter. It took exactly 13.5 hours from start to finish.

You can do it really quick if you want to, but I really enjoyed leveling.
Level 40-50 used to be the biggest struggle for me but I think they made it easier.
Got my worgen to level 20 yesterday, the starting area is pretty cool. Having the heirloom gear that awards additional XP really helps. Looking forward to some of the guild rewards that add more heirloom pieces.

Nice =D
I got home from work around 7pm yesterday and the queue into Kel Thuzad was 2 hours. By the time I logged in, I was already ready to quit and the fact that there's 2000 people in the starting areas for 80's just made me want to rage.
Probably going to spend some time leveling an alt and then push for 85 next week or something - seeing as it takes only 20 hours or something if you do it casually (and obviously faster if you do it right), I don't feel like I'm going to be missing too much.

Nice work, I was only able to put in 4.5 Hrs so far and I'm at 82 1/2. The starting zones were a little crazy and people don't seem to wanna group for named mob quests making for a long line of people fighting to tag but other than that the respawns for regular quest mobs are crazy fast almost to the point that its hard to get away and out of combat.

Thanks. We had it planned out well in advance to run a 5-man group and dungeon grind all the way to 85. All reports from the beta were confirming that dungeon grinding was the quickest method.
We made all the necessary preparations. Flasks, fish feasts, completed 25 quests for turn in at 1:01.
We got off to a really quick start with the 25 turn-ins giving about 35% of the first level. From there we started random queueing Blackrock Caverns, as it was the only dungeon we had pre-discovered. We hit 82 extremely quickly - probably 1:20 total time played to get it. At 82 we flew to Deepholm and discovered the Stonecore. This would be the dungeon to take us all the way to 85.
After several hours of grinding and just hitting level 84, we noticed that there was a single DK that had pulled ahead of us in level. At first we thought he may have been mob tagging, but it turns out he was legit and pulled ahead of the pack in questing. It became evident to us that questing was faster than dungeons post-82. At level 84 each Stonecore run took about 15 minutes and gave 5% of a level (5 hours for 84-85 doing this).
With this realization we decided to move on to the Twilight Highlands and finish off our levels with a few quests there (including a new Ring of Blood type event). The DK got Realm first 85 when were were around 66%. From there it took us another 45 minutes or so to ding. In all we got first hunter, shaman, druid, and warrior. Our two warriors hit it within 3 minutes of each other, but you only share realm firsts if it happens within 60 seconds of each other. (Our guild had another instance group that also got Realm first Paladin)
Time to revisit it tonight and start grinding heroics to gear up for raids.
Tried to watch the Flames game last night, but watching TV on the couch after staying up for 38 hours (since 6am on Monday) is a recipe for sleep.

Yeah, aside from the world first 85 who mob tagged (probably banned by now I imagine), most server first 85s were purely questing.
I am approximately 4000XP into level 80. I uh, flew around Stormwind a bit and did the intro quest and got to the boat. Go me.

I'm at 83, making some bank from mining off of the profession power levelers. Feeling pretty good to be running around with 60,000 health with two more levels to go haha.

Stats were really inflated in the 80 to 85 transition. As a fresh 85 with a mix of 264/277 hard mode loot and questing greens and blues my hunter was already over 90k hp. My crit on the other hand had dropped from 65% to 14.3%...
