				 WoW: Cataclysm

			Finally, officially, announced.
As always, Bliz does amazing trailers for their games:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/
I like the concept of breaking the old world content and remaking it into something new. Especially since Azshara likely won't suck anymore... thank god.

Oh, and Heroic Deadmines FTW. |

Pretty sick trailer... however, if I'm ever going to go back to WoW, I see myself just doing competitive Arenas/Battlegrounds. Raiding is soooooooooooo time consuming and basically makes you anti-social. Plus it's depressing when you're gear is out of date by an expansion/patch, your hard work and time goes to wasteeeee.

I love this expansion already. It such a great idea to make all of the old zones new again and re-invigorate the level 1-60 experience.
I have been waiting a long time to see Deathwing as well!

I haven't played WoW for 3+ years but I would consider buying this and playing some more. Would I need to buy all the other expansion packs first though?

Reshaping the entire old world will make this expansion feel alot more "epic" to play than the last two which just had new continents in my opinion.

I believe so. To level 60-70 you need Burning Crusade. To level 70-80 you need Wrath of the Lich King.

I don't think the Burning Crusade expansion is included with the WotLK one.

Is it just me or did I get that Ottawa Senators Centurion vibe from the announcer?

Everything I've read about this expansion makes me want Diablo III more. Seriously... Alliance get Worgen and the Horde gets the friggin Goblins? Stupid Alliance... Everything I know about the lore of this game tells me that the Alliance wouldn't accept the Worgen - rather they would break down that wall, rape pillage and destroy every last worgen there was and then eat their babies with a side of raspberry sauce.
But... the 13 year olds still think they are the "good" guys.

Well, alliance has the gnomes, and the goblins have always been set up as their foil, so makes sense to make them horde.
Horde has tauren, so alliance needed a beast faction too, I suppose.

What Resolute said.

Also, because the Worgen curse struck Gilneas (which is where the playable Worgen will be from), a human kingdom that shut the Greymane wall during the events of Warcraft III: Frozen Throne and have not been heard from since, they were once part of the Alliance so it is not far fetched to see them return.

And the link is actually through the Night Elves who had a hand in summoning the Worgen to Azeroth.

This hidden gem from the screenshots page of worldofwarcraft.com/cataclyysm is pretty funny. |

			Bump.
The transition patch (patch 4.0.1) to Cataclysm comes out today. Massive gameplay changes including the phase-in of the new Cataclysm skill trees among other things.

A site like MMO-Champion.com can obviously explain all of the changes better than I could hope to in a single forum post.

Cataclysm release date is official now too: December 7th.

So you are saying I probably should have let it pre-load?

With the new streaming launcher I don't know if that's an issue anymore.
