They should stick a full casino on board and float it down the Mississippi River. Now THAT would be profitable.

I sure hope that $150 million is for the whole park because that's a lot of money for a wooden boat that's only 135m x 22.5m

I'm not googling, but aren't there larger boats already out there? Aircraft carriers, tankers, cruise ships, etc?
EDIT: I see, you probably meant made from wood...

Actually..that is a VERY good idea. Here in the US we call the casinos 'The Boats' because they have to be located on/around a river/body of water in a lot of states. 'Noah's Ark' would be a great name for a casino.. it's a very popular penny slot already.
Briefly browsed through the thread but saw no mention of where original measurements of the boat are found? Is there really biblical scripture of Noah's boat dimensions or is this an estimation?
This park will no doubt be popular, particularly in the US, but a real head shaker that money is being spent on something as frivolous as this. Religious beliefs aside, what a stupid thing to build.

To be fair, how do you get out of a recession without spending money? With a massive project like this you create hundreds (thousands?) of jobs at all levels to construct the park, and then you create more jobs to man and run the place. And a theme park keeps the injection and transfer of money going throughout its life-time.

300 cubits long by 50 cubits wide, by 30 cubits high
Genesis 6:15

"This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits" - Genesis 6:15
A cubit is about the length from your finger tip to your elbow.
I've heard all kinds of crazy stuff on how the ark was big enough, one of my favorites was that before the flood there were no oceans, that all the water was bound up in the atmosphere, and that there was a metallic hydrogen shell around the earth to keep the pressure higher, keep it warmer, and more humid, and people were much bigger back then. Bigger people, bigger cubits, bigger ark, etc.
It's all silliness, we can see simply by looking at the genetic code that there was no genetic bottleneck (where a population is narrowed down to a few individuals) common to all extant species. A few species show genetic bottlenecks in recent history (<100,000 years), but not every single one at the same time.
