Not sure how it looks per se, but i know they dont have the issues Wrigley does as far as room in the endzones.

In fact that Yankee stadium game is on at 5:00 your time on NBC, so have a gander.

The funny thing about the Chicago debacle is that the Bears played there for many many years before Soldier stadium become their home, but they layed the field out North to South and had few issues, but this one is laid out East to West and there simply just wasnt enough room. Really dumb by the Big 10...idiotic in fact.

I wonder how hockey players at big 10 schools feel about being ran into boards with no padding?

Dude, I work at a hotel while I'm in school. All of our rooms are already booked for Alabama football games NEXT season.

I think Euegene and area are bigger then Tuscaloosa. Plus I thought that everyone in the south has (or lives in) a mobile home/RV.

LSU looks to be in trouble right now.

LSU better drop after that game (well they should've dropped awhile ago). Stanford, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Nebraska are all better teams than they are.

meh, about 50k more people, nothing really to make a difference. But down here they eat sleep and drink football all year round. Different culture completely.

Tuscaloosa - 93k
Eugene- 154k

Autzen Stadium - 54,000
Bryant-Denny Stadium- 101,821

I thought everyone up in the north west wore denim as a tux and was a hippie.....

Congrats to the Montana State Bobcats and their true freshman QB Denarius McGhee on a huge win in Missoula today. I will be rooting for them in the playoffs!

Yeah I was thinking more of "As of 2008, Eugene had a population of 154,620,[2] and the Greater Eugene-Springfield metropolitan statistical area (MSA) had a population of 345,880."

All I know about the south football culture i learned from the book "Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer" by Warren St. John and that is one of the reasons why i probably follow NCAA football more then any other type of football.

and you are right about the denim:

It wasn't personal, I live here in Bama now but grew up in Florida.

Did you happen to look at Tuscaloosa's metro? also with Birmingham 30 minuets away from town it's not as small as you think.

The SEC has had pretty much a perfect situation when it comes to computer rankings. Computers love an easy hierarchy. If there's a simple hierarchy, teams at the top of that heap are ranked higher than they would be in more complex hierarchies, while the opposite is true for teams at the bottom of the hierarchy. The more complex the balances between teams, the more all those teams involved will be middling.
Let's say you rank the teams:
Auburn
LSU
Alabama*
Arkansas
South Carolina*
Mississippi State
Florida
Georgia~
Kentucky
Tennessee~
Vanderbilt~~
Mississippi~

* represents a loss to a team of a lower ranking. I'll call this a 'bad conference loss'.
~ represents a loss to an out-of-conference team, but they're immaterial to what I'm looking at.

So the totals are five out of conference losses, and only two in-conference games that would get in the way of an otherwise error-free ranking.

Compare that with the PAC-10:
Oregon
Stanford
USC*
Arizona*
California*~
Oregon State***~~
ASU~
UCLA*~
Washington~~
Washington State~~

In both cases, I've attempted to rank the conferences in the order that produces the fewest '*'s. Oregon State alone is more muddled than the entire SEC:

That's seven 'bad conference losses', and that doesn't include the likely USC loss to Oregon State, which would be an eight. So even if the conference is stronger as a whole (As Sagarin finds in his rankings), the upper teams are going to be hurt by the complex relationships of the middle and bottom tier of teams in the conference.

I hate LSU and they haven't looked good all season. But face the facts, they have a top 5 strength of schedule. The SEC has been the strongest conference and plays the best CFB for the last couple of years. The Pac10 is catching them but adding teams like Colorado and Utah isn't going to help.

I'm not a Team SEC guy, but I laugh at Big 10 homers talking like they are the best conference in all of CFB. The only other conference that can lay claim is the Pac 10.

Yeah, I'm not arguing about how the teams are ranked, it's sort of an inevitability of the computer ranking system, and I say that as somebody who's a fan of having the computers involved in the process. Unless you factor in margin of victory, there's no way LSU should be ranked lower than they are by the computers.

They took out MOV because teams (sorry nick) like Oklahoma were running it up for "style" points.

I think that LSU would be a tough game for anyone with that defense that they have.

Only a FSU player would run the pick 96 yards for the TD when he just needed to get down to ice the game.

I would of loved to see him fumble and have Maryland win.

The reffing most of the game was bogus against Nebraska, but their coach kept abusing the refs so the refs just made him more pissed!

yet that defense just got rolled at home by a way below average Mississippi team.

It befuddles me as to what has happened to the vaunted SEC defenses of the last few years. No one plays D worth a crap in that conference this season (alabama aside). The offenses are a different story, but man what a complete flip-flop from recent history.

yeah since no one is allowed a bad game, ever!

Florida, despite the fact that we are having a horrible season is (or was during the game) 11th overall in team defense.

Last year UF's defense was stout!

Just because they had a rough game doesn't mean that they suck. But compared to Oregon or Auburn, everyone plays defense.

Of course teams are allowed bad games...but the whole conference pretty much stinks on that side of the ball...and yes you are correct that florida is pretty good as well. i overlooked them.

ANd am I misunderstanding you about Oregon?

They are 8th in the nation in points against....which really is incredible considering their offense is usually only on the field about 2 minutes at a time.
