I thought Obama did very well on the Daily Show. I thought he burned Stewart a couple of times, especially in regards to health care. I wouldn't be suprised if Obama and Stewart "practiced" the interview before hand though.

The fact that Obama went on the Daily Show really shows how much the country is coming to respect Jon Stewart's opinions.

i'm just blown away that a small time comedy news show that i first started watching with Craig Kilborn has turned into one of the most significant political commentary programs in the States and has the power to get a sitting president as a guest

good on Stewart for never trying to jump ship like Kilborn did. i'm guessing the networks would throw untold millions at him if they could to snag the Daily Show property, but i'm guessing he likes the freedom to do basically whatever he wants on cable

Obama will do nearly anything at this point to stop the coming Republican Tsunami. While it does help Stewart, it lessens the Obama brand to do a show like that. The younger people will love it but the middle class crowd might see it as either demeaning or that the president is not to be taken seriously. 2010 could be a bigger slaughter than either 1980 or 1994 to the Dems.

I didn't watch it, did Obama use a teleprompter?

You have idea what you are talking about. Stewart is mainstream now you do know he has hosted the Oscars just like little guys like Letterman.

That's why I like his show so much, he spares no one. I think he gave Obama a bit more than I expected - I mean, come on, you don't openly trash a sitting US president on your show... but he still got a few barbs in about how he's not really sticking to his promises - what was the joke "Yes we can, but only if the situation merits it"?

I can only imagine how big "Obama's brand" would be if he never did the Daily Show.

How big was his brand before Obama did the show on Nov. 7th 2005? It must have taken a huge hit.


Did his "brand" take a hit after he did the show on Aug. 22 2007?
