I just had a feeling Favre was going to ruin it somehow at the end.
The Jets have some playmakers for sure. I hate seeing the Jets playing so well, but that is a good team.
It's early but to me right now, I'd have to say Baltimore is the scariest team in the AFC followed by Pittsburgh and the Jets.

Yeah but he almost brought them back. His receivers dropped a few balls too. Didn't help.

More wonderful news for the Eagles: Brodrick Bunkley is likely done for the year and Jason Peters could be as well.

So you are taking what everyone says literally now? You actually thought he meant Matt Cassell was worse than 3rd stringers on other teams.

Ultimately though it would have been better to have the team in place than pay the couple other picks that it cost to get a guy like McNabb. It still blows my mind that teams like Arizona or San Fran who are both in that very winnable NFC West didn't make a move for him.
Great catch here by Harvin to make this one a bit more interesting.

The Cassel thing is still puzzling though. The money was insane for an unproven guy with limited arm strenght and no college career to build off. He's not the worst QB in the league but the Raiders for example are getting similar or better play from Gradkowski & Campbell and they make $5 million combined. Ideally this would have been the perfect year for the Chiefs to work in a franchise QB as it appears expecations will be high next year if they continue to play well. To me it appears that coming back with Cassel next year could be disasterous for the Chiefs if expectations are high. He seems to have problems reading coverages and usually ends up checking down and hitting mostly short reads and for a big guy he struggles with the deep ball. In the NFL you are going to need your QB to win some games during a 16 game season and Cassel just isn't that guy that's going to win a game on his arm when the running game is taken away.

So apparently a 49ers beat writer got a low-down on the Smith-Singletary sideline saga.
Quote:
"He (Singletary) said to Alex, 'Great quarterbacks don't give up, they don't quit, no matter who it is. If you're a great quarterback, you won't let the coach or anybody else take you out of the game,'" Davis said.
"So that's when I went to Alex and said, 'Alex, you're staying in this game. You look at coach and you tell him you're staying in this game and you can do it because you've been in this position before.'"

This was a quote from V Davis.

Singletary's bigges problem is that he's a motivational speaker miscast as an NFL head coach.

Yeah, I think he'd be great in a lesser role, position coach maybe, or if he was surrounded by coordinators that oversaw the details, but he's definitely in over his head with the current setup.

Here is a heck of an article on NFL Agents:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...html?eref=sihp
You don't see many articles where a lot of names are dropped AND a list of follow-up attempts and responses from those folks.

He was perfect in his previous role - linebackers coach. He is just brutal on the offensive side of things, he needs to give his OC free reign. It is Singletary's insistence on demanding a power running game, a la the '85 Bears, that has been an issue for the past 2 seasons. When they get behind they open things up and good things happen, but for the past couple seasons they try a game plan that every team in the league is prepared for and it rarely works.

That is vintage Brett Favre, when the pressure is on sometimes he makes the big play but usually he throws a pick.

They couldn't be any worse. Croyle has actually played well the last few times he has had a chance, look at the 2009 season opener in Baltimore. When Croyle was behind center the offensive line was not good (part of the reason he was hurt all the time), plus the Chiefs had no running game.

yes they could...and have been.
Croyle is 0-9 as a starter fer chrissakes.
Cassel is at least .500 or so.
Sheesh...this isnt even a debate, or haley would have made the switch long ago. Or is he incompetant as well?
