The whole thing on twitter is a disgrace. I watched Hawksworth's video with Nenshi's answer, but then when you watch the full video which someone else posted, he says directly after the cut that it makes more sense to hold on to Enmax. But his biggest concern was Enmax's debt, and he wanted to make sure the taxpayers wouldn't be held accountable for it. That's pretty reasonable.
I'd also love for Hawk to post his donor list. I'm pretty certain there is some interesting information that will come out of that one.
thanks for the feedback on Billy the Butcher, I went through his platform and to me it makes sense. I looked at Dur's which is pretty close to the same.
I can't forgive Linda and not for the bridge, but for trying to sneak personal metallica tickets for her kids through her city credit card, and the chocolates thing.
I am voting for Billy the Butcher as well. It is nice to have a small blue collar business owner to vote for.
I have been doing a little research on this (fellow ward 9 resident) and feel that Gian Carlo-Carra appears to be the best choice. Having meet the guy I can say I was very impressed with him and his ideas, he really seems to care about the community/city.
Of all the web sites I've been through so far, he's my favorite so far. I wonder how is urbanist approach will be with the messed up shape of Ward 9 that has Bridgleland, Inglewood and..... Riverbend.
So how does a Ward 9ian find out who I should vote for? I've recieved almost nothing to my house promoting the different candidates, which is pretty disappointing.
I feel the same about Ward 12.
If someone can't be bothered to let me know they are running, except having a sign about the failed Guinness Book of World Record attempt for the most people hugging at one time, then I don't know that I want to vote for them.

I wondered why it was cancelled.. The weather wasnt great but they pulled the plug a few days before.
Hoping someone could answer this for me, I have tried googling it and didn't find anything. Out of Conolly, Hawkesworth and McIvor who voted for the $3 LRT parking fee?

Thanks for the info, has McIvor been grilled for voting for the parking fees and now claiming he wants to get rid of them? Seems ridiculous he has flip flopped on the issue.
I asked Rick the other day if he visits and posts on CP and he suddenly had the craziest deer in headlights look I've ever seen. He then stammered that he had seen the site 'a couple of times'.

There was an article earlier in the campaign (August I believe) in The Sun where Nenshi had called all three of them out for voting on it, but most of the grilling has been undercut really.
Moreover, I'm trying to find the results of the 2009 meeting that took place where Joe Connelly moved to drop the fee from $3 to $1. The motion was defeated, but I can't seem to get the info on this one yet.

A little bit, but not enough. This is coming from someone who supports the park n' ride fee.
Same with Bob flip-flopping on the airport tunnel.

I'm having the same feelings in Ward 12. Although Shane Keating is pretty responsive in emails and twitter. Even offered to drop by my place to chat.
I'll go to the Ward 12 forum and try and make up my mind after that.
Those who voted for lowering the cost to the $1 park and ride fee:
For: Aldermen Hawkesworth, Jones, Mar, McIver, Stevenson, Chabot and Connelly
Against: Aldermen Lowe, Pincott, Ceci, Farrell, Fox-Mellway and Mayor Bronconnier
7-6, needed an 8th.
Interestingly (to me), the cost of the Park and Ride is $2.925 Million. However, the $3 fee would bring in $8.925, which means the cost would offset itself over three times.
So, if you did have the Park and Ride fee at $1, that would almost exactly off-set the current cost of Park and Ride.

I've worked with him in during my university days with the Forrest Lawn Design Charrettes and revitalization planning. He know his stuff in regards to Urban planning and what makes a great city.
He has also done some great stuff as head of the Inglewood community association over the past few years. He can be a bit abrasive to work with, but I think he'll bring some great ideas to council as an alderman. Lots of things that will make the inner city a stronger entity.

Does that cost include the new security measures (improved cameras, new cameras, bike patrols) or the opportunity cost of selling the park n' ride land to development interests?
In ward 13 we have a few candidates running for alderman. DCU will win in a walk, but has literally done nothing to campaign. No signs, no events I know of, nothing. I almost find it disrespectful to not even bother....but then again she doesn't need to campaign and will still win.
I could be wrong though...my signs aren't out yet either, so maybe she is still making an appearance.
She wrote a rather lengthy letter in the community magazine thing that explains that she will go to bat for "our needs and what we care about". She spent a large chunk of article detailing how she will fight the Shawnee Slopes development, which is really the ONLY thing she is going for right now, other than the common points every alderman is doing (scrapping park and ride fees, transparency in council, etc).
I want to vote for an alderman who sees Shawnee Slopes for what it is (an overpriced golf course, not a green space the community can use) and not just catering to those living on the edge of the course. It's very frustrating.
