So how does a Ward 9ian find out who I should vote for? I've recieved almost nothing to my house promoting the different candidates, which is pretty disappointing.

I will say this about Ward 12. If you like Ric McIver, you'll love the candidates for Ward 12. I think most of them show up on his donor list.

Its funny I live in ward 14, and I've seen next to nothing or heard next to nothing from the Candidates.
I mean I didn't expect much from Linda Fox-Mellway because she's lazy, and she just sits around collecting a cheque.

But the disturbing thing is that ward 14 is up for grabs because Fox-Mellway isn't very impressive, but I've seen next to nothing from the other candidates.

I'm almost willing to vote for Billy the butcher just because of his name.

Bob Hawkesworth appears be employing some pretty despicable tactics trying to smear Nenshi. TeamHawkesworth on twitter just posted a video exclaiming that Nenshi will immediately sell Enmax for $1B. It's posted on a facebook fan page that is linked on Hawkesworth's website.
There's just one problem.. the video they posted takes an extremely small part of Nenshi's answer to the question of selling Enmax. Hawkesworth is pure garbage to me at this point.

Hawkesworth has been pretty much been exposed for what he is. An out of touch extremely arrogant man with no idea what he's doing. Who throws out a platform thats so ludicris that you wonder if he's the required joke candidate.

I have been doing a little research on this (fellow ward 9 resident) and feel that Gian Carlo-Carra appears to be the best choice. Having meet the guy I can say I was very impressed with him and his ideas, he really seems to care about the community/city.

In ward 13 we have a few candidates running for alderman. DCU will win in a walk, but has literally done nothing to campaign. No signs, no events I know of, nothing. I almost find it disrespectful to not even bother....but then again she doesn't need to campaign and will still win.
I could be wrong though...my signs aren't out yet either, so maybe she is still making an appearance.

Btw CC go with Billy the butcher. He is a good guy and based on some of the other candidates would at least bring a business owners mentality to the table! (along with some damn fine roast!)

thanks for the feedback on Billy the Butcher, I went through his platform and to me it makes sense. I looked at Dur's which is pretty close to the same.

I can't forgive Linda and not for the bridge, but for trying to sneak personal metallica tickets for her kids through her city credit card, and the chocolates thing.

You know before all this crap started with Hawkesworth I really liked him. Soft spoken, intelligent, and didn't try to flip flop on his record while on council. That's why I'm so surprised to see him take this lower approach.

If I can make any suggestion in Ward 14, it would be to stay far, far away from Peter Demong. Craig Chandler is managing his campaign.

I agree. The campaign Bob has been running has been an about face to a long track record of generally being a positive guy on council.

I looked at his stuff to, its not really me, and I don't like Chandler all that much. I might be a bit of a Right Winger, but Chandler is way to far to the right even for me.

No kidding. He is a leftie and I could accept that. But this heavily negative turn makes me despise him. He should take his pensions and disappear. |

Hawks needed to make a splash and differentiate himself somehow. Clearly he's done that, but he seems to have alienated rational thinking people in the process.

I was cool with him being so anti-airport tunnel, I love that billboard he has right as you come into downtown on 9th avenue, with him looking all badass (such an unusual look for him!).
Heck I'm not even super pro-airport tunnel. I want to make sure there is no delay to YYC getting its much needed parallel runway. In fact Nenshi and I have discussed this, he told me if he got his plan in motion the runway would be delayed all of 6 months at the most. With YEG trying to steal back some of their passengers I think it is crucial that we let YYC expand and develop to continue to strengthen our position in the air cargo and passenger market.
