That's your answer?? There aren't too many shows where I watched the first episode and thought to myself, "Wow, such great character development!" Character development takes time and in a tv series, you have plenty of it. The Event will never solely be about the characters from what I can tell. It's going to be about these different stories and how they connect and the timeline gimmick may run its course in a few episodes, but for the time being, I'm okay with it.

Was somewhat interesting. My guess isn't aliens but time or parallel universe people.

Right but a lot of the time you want to put your best foot forward and make your audience WANT to come back for more. I watched Season 1 of Lost on DVD and I finished the whole season in 48 hours I was hooked from episode 1. The folks at The Event decided a 60 min movie trailer would do it but leaves viewers with either a) that was awesome or b) what the hell that was lame. To me the acting was terrible, I didn't want to know more about the story by the end of it and I think this will end up like Flash Forward which I also tried to watch because of hype but then it falls flat. Now if it becomes the next big thing then great I'm happy for them but that was a terrible start to a big 'Event'.

Anyway, here's what I think. Highlight below qoute.

When Sophia said "they saved us." I feel that qoute has a double meaning. They were saved from the crashing plane, and Sophia and the detainees were saved on the plane by the people of the future.

Fixed. Because on broadcast they need to appeal to as many eyes as possible with the pilot and pray that people hang around for the second episode. This is still the case on cable, but to a way lesser extent. Cable pilots don't have to be designed to blow everyone out of the water.

What? Had it on the PVR and just watched it last night. I have no idea how you could not follow it. Clear timelines were placed on the screen.
Was one of my favourite premiers. Definitely going to be watching this one.
Hawaii Five 0 rocked huh? OK, well, now I know why you didn't follow or like The Event. Hawaii Five 0 was all fluff. Pretty cheesy, but will appeal to a wider audience for sure. My wife really liked it actually. Just not my cup of tea at all.

Ok seriously, wtf. The preview for this week as quoted was "This week you'll learn all the answers to last week", then this week it is even more "wtf" moments.
Having never watched Lost, is this even more confusing/stupid or?
It has got me hooked I'll give it that much.

I was going to post the same thing except I watched Lost for 2 seasons before all the sub plots got introduced making it even more difficult to understand. I suspect this show will head in the same direction.

I lost interest in the show in the first 10 minutes of the second episode when the plane crashed into the desert, and I had a flashback to the lost episode where Locke popped up in the desert after the Island moved.
Thanks, I'll pass

Lost was definitely not stupid. Confusing at times, but the mystery was one of its drawing aspects. Lost built that up slowly, though, and didn't drop it all on us right at once. The Lost pilot was completely normal and was just about surviving on a beach. The Event started off in the very middle of the confusing stuff, it seems.

Chuck doesn't have that big of a following either as ratings would suggest.
Was it Fox that made Lost? I can't remember, if so I think this is NBC's version and are just cashing in on the success of Lost, except this show is just silly.

But at the end did the president lean over to his advisors and say with a steely eyed glint, "Gentlemen, we got through this event, but we still need to keep planning and preparing for the event" followed by a duh duh DAAAAAAA

Anyone else still watching this show?? It's been 4 episodes and I can't stop watching. I know it's a little goofy and doesn't have great acting, but they got me hooked with their non stop cliff hangers. Everytime an episode ends, I get upset, I wanna see more.
For those who didn't like the premiere because of the flip flopping time lines, they have gotten away from that lately. They still flip flop from time to time, but nowhere near as much as in the premiere.

the only things i've seen of this show are the "previously on..." bits that my PVR records after Chuck, and that's been enough to convince me that it looks completely ######ed and probably won't last past a single season. forcing cliffhangers and mystery into a TV series won't make it the next Lost

^^^^I watch the show and agree that this show probably won't last past this season. It's pretty silly, but it's a fun mess if that makes sense. And for the time being, I'm still enjoying it. The cliff hangers are forced and are sometime unnecessary, but for me, they work as I can't wait to see what happens next.
