Looks very interesting, but I'm usually relunctant to watch any show not on HBO, Shotime or AMC. I will give this one a look though.

A big meh from me. Lost interest halfway through. I'll probably record it though and give it another chance to see if it gets better.

What the hell. I wanted to watch this show because of the conspiracies and stuff, but that ending was dumb, I really don't need supernatural stuff.

Should have known it was going to suck. NBC is brutal for recognizing promising pilots.

Great more aliens and a demand for a show that you need to watch every damn episode for 5 years to get a twist ending.
No thanks I'm on vacation from it.

Made no sense at all. All the flip flopping between the present and the past had me going wtf is going on. Too hard to follow. Won't be watching anyone episodes.
On the other hand....Hawaii Five 0 rocked!

Serious letdown. I was expecting (hoping?) a high-tension political thriller, and what I got was a confusing, disjointed mess. The ending gave me the same feeling as "Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull". Aliens are fine in the right context, but I wasn't looking for them here.

I think they out-clevered themselves.
x is not the event.
y is not the event.
(but we do have a black president b/c NBC is more colorful)
z is not the event.

Totally agree, what a mess.
And Hawaii Five-0 did rock!! I will watch that show, Scott Caen has really impressed me, I thought he'd be like his character from Oceans 11/12/13 and Entourage, but he is totally different but still maintaining that edge he has.
Really enjoyed Hawaii Five-0.

I didn't think it was too bad, definitely will check it out next week to see what "they" are. One thing I will say though is that they could have used a few more scenes of that blond in a bikini!

WEll that didn't take long . . . Cracked takes a run at the Event
http://www.cracked.com/blog/a-series...e-event-going/
Quote:
The first Event that the show will be about involves some sort of crazy plane mishap. The pilot episode shows someone trying to fly a plane into the president, which would be extremely eventful, except that they miss, when the plane is swallowed by some kind of space orifice. That's still pretty eventful, and everyone is amazed, discussing the eventfulness of it, when the science-lady turns to the president and says, "But that's not the REAL event," and then the credits roll.
I am not kidding. That's how they set up the cliffhanger. This show is as subtle as shooting the pope with a gun that fires pedophiles.

Didn't mind it. Definitely held my interest and to be honest, I'm looking forward to the next episode. The scene flip flopping is annoying if you're not expecting it. But it works if only the "big picture" is something really special.
I liked the Sean Walker storyline, found that pretty interesting and the chick from Disturbia is freakin hot in that bikini.
A silly, easy fun watch. On a Monday night where not much else is on for me, I'll be into this one. And I never watch major network shows.

I sat through it because I have a huge void without Lost now. I honestly did not like it, I'll put my chips on it that it ends up like Flash Forward with the ratings and if it turns into a success then I eat the crow oh well. I decided to go watch Hawaii Five-O online when I got home and loved it.
My big complaint is The Event appears to be trying too hard, a mess of timelines, needs to slow the pace and focus on why we should invest time in getting to know the characters.

^^^^You're judging a show and bashing character development after one episode?? Did Lost have great character development after one episode?? NO chance.

Agreed. Getting to know the characters? In the pilot of a thriller like this? What is wrong with you people.
