Vick bought time with his legs and once the defense started to account for his running it opened up down field for him to throw.

I still believe Kolb will be a very good QB in this offense. I don't think the Eagles were prepared for the likes of Clay Matthews...
Kolb is a pass happy system QB from the University of Houston. He's a useless git and may possibly be what finally gets Reid fired. Vick gives the Eagles a better chance to win than he ever will.

And I'm actually an Eagles fan.

This idea is worse than the potential of a lockout.

Well "only the Lions" are actually an improved defense this year. I know it's easy to dismiss them year after year but there is steady improvement, especially on the d-line composed of a few newcomers, notably 1st rounder Suh and ex-Titan Vandenbosch. Vick will be under pressure, which may work to his favour if it forces him to scramble more. The Lions secondary continues to be their weakest area, with the possible exception of safety.

The Bears actually had a lot of trouble moving the ball against Detroit's D last week. The best example was the 1st and goal at the one yard line that resulted in four consecutive stuffs. If the Bears went on to lose that game, I think Lovie Smith would have been under a LOT of fire for not choosing to kick the FG to take the lead at that point in the game.

They did the Grep Cup already.

Anything would be better than country.

Texas? Hire ZZ Top.

Well my Chiefs actually have a somewhat important week 2 game in Cleveland. After this game it's home vs. San Fran, than a bye, than on the road to play Indy and Houston in back to back weeks. Lose this game and they could be 1-4 come week 6. Win this game and maybe they have enough confidence to start out 3-0. Once they get past Indy and Houston on the road, the rest of their schedule isn't that bad. So if they can get through the first 5 weeks of their schedule at 2-3 or even better 3-2 they might have a shot at a .500 or better season.

I think most of the guys on Cleveland like the Chiefs defensive co-ordinator a hell of a lot more than they like their current head coach.

I think Cassel is underrated. Guy is a winner and KC will surprise some people this season.

Bill Simmons nails Andy Reid's playcalling right on the head:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...10/picks100917

Quote:
LIONS (+6.5) over Eagles
A sympathy pick after Detroit fans were Joyce'd for the second time in three months ... and also because the Eagles stink. James P. in San Antonio summed it up: "So with the game on the line, fourth-and-1, the Eagles ran the most predictable play ever. To prove it's the most predictable play ever: When watching the highlights, I paused the TV and asked my wife, 'What happens next?' She said, 'Vick runs it.' I say, 'OK, where?' She thinks for a nanteenth of a second and points out the exact line where Vick will run. Andy Reid, when my wife can predict your play, you have been outcoached.

And I'm actually an Eagles fan.

I have never been a fan of Vick's, I prefer the stay in the pocket passer over the one read and run QB.

Reid runs a pass happy system so it is possible that Kolb could be perfect for him. His strengthens were/are suppose to be accuracy with a quick release especially hitting receivers on the run. Kolb ain't no Brister or a Detmer brother......

I think a bigger concern is losing Weaver and Jackson. Detroit has the potential to destroy us on the inside. Schmitt could be good, he was the reason Seattle let Weaver walk. But Jackson was a beast on the inside.

Tough break for the Chiefs though as Mr. Turnover (Delhomme) won't start and Seneca Wallace is probably more dangerous. If Delhomme was the starter I would take the Chiefs +1.5 but with Wallace starting I may pick the Browns to cover.

Don't you actually have to play and win to be a winner? They guy never played in college and only won in the regular season on a stacked New England team that still missed the playoffs. IMO he's a backup that is miscast as a starter.

As a Browns fan, I would say Delhomme is much better than Wallace.

Not a Browns fan but I totally disagree. I thought Wallace played very well for the Hawks which is why Holmgren brought him to Cleveland. He's undersized and more of an athlete than a pure passer but a career 80+ passer when given the chance. Delhomme's QB rating on a much better Carolina team has been 59 for the past two seasons. He's barely an upgrade on Jamarcus Russell at this stage of his career and already cost the Browns a win in their first game with his untimely picks.

They had similar pre-season stats, slight edge to Delhomme:

I think that the Chiefs get it done this week. That win on Monday gave them a lot of confidence and its not like they have to come in and play the Packers on the road. I don't know if they can beat San Fran, but its one week at a time!

Decertification would strip the union of its collective bargaining rights on behalf of the players, so the move might seem counter-intuitive. But since antitrust laws exempt NFL owners from being sued by unions that are negotiating CBAs, decertification would in essence eliminate the union and allow players to sue the NFL in the event of a lockout -- giving them potential leverage in their dispute with the owners.

Man! How many shots does he take at women in this article? :P

Quote:
Is the touchdown possession rule stupid? Of course. It gets more complex every year. I watch football for 12 hours a day, 17 weeks a year, and have no idea what the rule actually is at this point. If it looks like a catch, why can't it be a catch? I liked this solution from Jason in Delaware: "My wife, who doesn't watch football at all, asked during the Johnson replay, 'Why in the world wasn't that a catch?' If a female non-football fan can see something should or should not be, then her ruling prevails, no matter what ridiculousness the rulebook says. We need a Wife/Girlfriend Rule implemented."
I tested out Jason's idea with the Sports Gal. Her take on Johnson's catch: "So what? He caught it. Did I miss something?" When I told her it was ruled incomplete, she made me rewind it, watched it again, then said, "That's dumb, he caught it" and walked away. The point is, I shouldn't have to call my wife over -- someone who knows NOTHING about sports -- to confirm the idiocy of a football ruling. But that doesn't excuse Johnson from opening the door for that idiocy. Next time, man up and admit you blew it.

Yeah Bill Simmons doesn't constantly say how his wife is smarter than him and talks about how lucky he is she puts up with his crap. Never. Read it for a bit, you'll figure it out. And the second quote? Umm, it's correct, joke or not.
