I'm not trying to be argumentative - when I read your response I was a little embarrassed at my misinterpretation of the word so I went to some sites to see what it actually means, fully expecting to see your definition. Instead, I found the following definitions for decorum.

1. dignified propriety of behavior, speech, dress, etc.
2. the quality or state of being decorous; orderliness; regularity.
3. Usually, decorums. an observance or requirement of polite society.

behaviour in keeping with good taste and propriety

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the idea. In 2010 Decorum refers to polite, tasteful, dignified, etc. speech (in our context). We can't swear on CP because it's bad for business, not because we should be exercising a degree of decorum on this site. But yes, if this was 1510 you would be right.

No, I think decorum is a good word. In the absence of other social cues which moderate people's interactions with each other, discussions around here get heated enough without adding in the fun of profanity.

So it's also an effort to keep things civil, to keep people reasonable, orderly... decorum works for me.

Are you kidding me? As mentioned before, virtually every swearword is freely used on broadcast TV (the standard for censorship) including the F-word.
I guarantee you every person (incl. ladies and minors) who is on the internet browsing these forums is not offended by these words, they're part of daily life. Just because they were offensive back in the 60s, doesn't mean they still are.

But at the end of the day, ya, its a private site and whatever the owner wants will rule the day, but doesn't mean we can't have a debate over it.

I think there should be a filter for the F-word, and then everything else is up to the mods discretion. (To maintain a level of civility). Posting the s,b or other words shouldn't be filtered nor subject for infractions (if they even mean anything).

I guarantee that you are wrong. I take offense to most foul language, most specifically the f-word. I think it is low class, and it shows a lack of intelligence to use such crass language.

I don't have issues with not posting nudity or profanity, but the first post is this thread isn't that clear. Adding no nudity at all would kind of help.

I got my p p slapped for posting a link to a poor quality photo of a fat naked lady sitting on a bed that looked like Homer Simpson.

I know that ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law, but being a newbie, who took the time to read the initial page, a simple warning would have sufficed. Instead some heavy handed mod has blighted me with a mark on my permanent record. This could affect my credit rating and my ability to find suitable employment.

I used to visit a forum where the mods randomly selected words and replaced them with other words that made no sense. No one knew what the words were so every once in a while you'd come across a sentence that makes no sense because it had a word in it that was replaced.

I think they had also replaced "hand" with "d*ck skinner" which produced many laughs.
