The McD's Pizza was the bomb. I worked there back when they first started making them.

The problem was, after about a year or two, people just stopped ordering them. Yeah, we'd still get 2 or 3 orders per day, but nowhere compared to what it was before. Eventually it just got to be a huge pain to have someone looking after the pizzas and making sure there was enough in case we got an order.

They eventually switched to McCain's pre-made pizzas, and the quality took a dive. That made even LESS people want to order one, and eventually they got $#!+canned completely.

The problem with pizzas is it just spread the menu too thin. If people were buying them, you'd ideally have one person on pizza the whole time. But when it dropped off, they would push the responsibility to the guy making the McChicken/Filet o' Fish/McNuggets, meaning he'd have to go back and fourth between stations, wash his hands, then hope he didn't miss any orders for the McChicken/Filet o' Fish/McNuggets or run out while he was tending to pizzas. All this to sell 2-3 pizzas per day was just not good use of time.

Yeah but there's no HFCS in it so it's a-ok.

Yup... could not agree more.

Order a diet coke, and even a Big Mac meal is around 800-900 calories.

The Penne Alfredo at Earls alone (http://www.earls.ca/food-menu/index....emid=61&id=173) is:

1521 calories

Now add chicken and you are looking at another 200 calories or so. Have a sundae for dessert and you are looking at 899.40 calories on top... so your Earls meal has three times the calories of a big mac meal.

And we haven't even gotten to the starters yet. A Spin/Art dip has 942 calories, wings 922 plus whatever's in the ranch sauce you have with it.

Yikes. I just added up what I had at Earls one night. 1700 calories (burger and fries) not including the 2 Stella's I had. That's a days worth in one sitting. I guess McD's isn't so bad after all.

I think those are really good points guys but what about the quality of the ingredients? I'd rather increase my intake of calories knowing it isn't full of preservatives and made from hooves and a$$holes.

McD's Pizza was awesome because it wasn't really like other Pizza. It tasted sort of like melted plastic on cardboard, but had some addicting and tasty quality to it.

I haven't been in a McDonald's in 30 years. No word of a lie. Before that, in my youth, likely less than 10 times if my recollections are correct. And that's probably because I was dragged there by friends.

Never really grew up with fast food, and that has carried over into adulthood. Just not into it. Food is something to be lovingly prepared and savored. Cramming something down the gullet because of hunger pangs and being pressed for time is no way to go about things.

That's amazing, because your views on sex are the exact opposite.

Then I suggest you start going to real restaurants and avoid Earls as well. I used to work there and the vast majority of the ingredients came frozen in bags.

Ha ha.

I just like good food. Seriously. Come from a European background. Takes less amount of time to build myself a tasty sandwich as it does to wait in line at a drive-thru for a bunch of garbage.

Also I'm not a fan of corporate monoliths like McDonalds. Never liked them from the get-go. Even as a kid.

First time I ate McDonalds, I threw it up.

My kids eat almost nothing but homemade food. It's actually sort of annoying because they won't eat any sort of fast food, so when we're out somewhere they starve until we get home.

Consumer Reports rates top fast food burgers:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_709839.html

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/m...view/index.htm

McDonald's burgers are certainly cheap and fast, but you still might wonder why billions have been consumed when you see the results of our recent survey of 28,000 online subscribers who rated burgers at 18 fast-food restaurants.

Among the standouts were In-N-Out Burger and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. The biggest loser: McDonald's. Burger King and Wendy's fared better than McDonald's but far worse than the highest-rated chains.

I think we tried our own poll in a thread here one time. Can a mod make a poll from this?

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...rs+poll&page=2

Nominees (please add more; could be one for fast food, and one for restaurant/pub):

Fast Food:

A & W
Boogies

Dairy Lane
Dairy Queen
Fat Burger
Giant Burger
Harveys
McDonalds
Peter's Drive In
Rocky's Burger Bus
Wendys
Willys

Restaurant/Pub:

Buchanans
Joey Tomatoes

An In-N-Out burger is interesting, because it's basically the same style burger as a Big Mac - French sauce with lettuce and onions, and yet it's so superior.

I didn't enjoy the In-N-Out burger so much I thought it a little overated. I also thought there was way too much "out" if you know what I mean.

I really like Burgerville, a Portland Chain, especially the fries, freshcut sprinkled with rosemary and garlic olive oil.

But my fav in Calgary for fast food burgers is Fat Burger but the south is better than the north one.

Lounge Burger should be added to the list too
