What has the world come to when CNN identifies 4chan as the good guys of the internet?

Yeah, funny how 4chan does more for animal welfare than PETA does.

Yeah, but they have identified like 3 different people now. How many reputations do they need to ruin and how many people need to get griefed before they get the right person?

Man that's brutal, I feel for the 2 (or maybe even 3) victims of this all cause a bunch of fanatics are going on a witch hunt. A lot of lives (both the miscast and their families) are going to have hell going to them for a long time. Its time to give up this nonsense.

Yeah, 4chan is pathetic, and yet people still sit back and laugh when they do crap like this.

One of the people they said it was at first was "Marilee Soux" which isn't even close to being the type of name you'd expect in Bosnia (the letter "x" isn't even in their alphabet). Anyway, they started a campaign to post hers, her mother's, her brother's and her friend's facebook pages and email addresses all over the internet. Since then, I have seen 3 other names pop up and harrassed.

We used to get paid for the tails.

I've also used an elastrator on young calves. (Don't google it if you have a weak stomach)

On our farm we never "got rid" of puppies. We found them homes or brought them to the auction mart and gave them away there.

Litters of kittens usually took care of themselves. Coyotes, older more dominant cats, stomped by cattle, frost bite, etc.

Fact is on farms there are a lot of unpleasant things.
Shame you couldn't just spay and neuter the cats and dogs. There were veterinary surgeons around then - maybe a bit more basic but they knew how to cut the nuts off other animals so why not treat these animals with the respect they are due. They were probably working dogs and cats on the farm and should have been cared for with due diligence and compassion.

I find it a shame that people put such different values on the lives (and the quality of those lives) of so many different species.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. The elastrator was used on very young bull calves, not dogs or cats. This is on a small dairy farm.

Generally we only ever had one dog at a time. Usually a female, as they are less aggressive, but still good guard dogs and pets. On a rare occasion they would get pregnant. IE: from a neighbouring (miles away) dog or a stray.
As I said, no pups were ever destroyed.

We did have more than one cat, but usually only one female.

On farms most of the day-to-day healthcare of animals is done by the owners. Vets are called for emergency situations. Especially when the nearest vet might be 30 or more miles away and they service a very wide area. It's not like here in the city where there are vets every 10 or 15 blocks. Some towns don't even have a local vet.

Castration of bull calves is a pretty basic task, a vet would likely laugh at a farmer who called them in for this task. IMO using the rubber bands (via the elastrator) is far more humane than the slashing castration method used on older calves on ranches.

If they were only 3 days old, or around that, they wouldn't have had the awareness to know what was happening. They probably would not have the survival instinct to hold their breathe and resist. The drowning would likely be within seconds.

I think people think of "puppies" and they think of older pups like at the pet store. Newborn pups don't really have cognitve awarness.

Absolutely, and based on this we should be able to terminate a birth in the first few days as the baby wouldn't know what's going on anyway.

They should force her to work in a shelter caring for stray dogs for a year.

Just because the puppies were only a couple days old does not make the fact she threw them in a river, and laughed while doing it, any less sad.

Legalize abortions up to the 57th trimester?

If the other choice was to let the infant starve or die slowly from parasites, then I would agree that euthenasia at birth would be a better option.

Might have to shorten that up a few. I don't think legalizing it past the age of majority will fly...
