Oh man, what an ugly sequence there for the Jays. Bases loaded with 0 out, Wells has a 2-0 count and he flies out to shallow left, then Lewis gets gunned down trying to tag. I don't think there are many ways that could have gone worse.

Despite their respectable record, the Jays have been failing in these situations all season long.
Lewis wasn't even going to be close; no idea why he was sent.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Lewis has to know that you don't tag up on a freaking shallow fly-out. And I don't know what good the third-base coach is if he doesn't tell his player to hold up in that situation.
Wells swinging at ball 3 when Nova clearly has no control.....yikes.

That was like having a 5-on-3 for a full 2 minutes in hockey and not scoring. That was almost a gimme situation for at least one run, how depressing to get nothing. Lewis should not have run there at all.

And what is a 18 million dollar clean-up hitter worth if he can't cash in the lead-off hits?
Lewis and Escobar have been a great 1-2 punch, only for Wells and Lind to flush it down the toilet.
Anyways, I'll shut up now.

I find it hilarious that during a "bench clearing brawl" the bullpens also empty out. Why? LOL, it's the equivalent of leaving the bench in a hockey fight.

The Jays are 65-59 after tonight's win.
This is worth noting because Sports Illustrated predicted at the beginning of the season that the Jays would go 64-98.
Screw you, Sports Illustrated!

I like Jose Bautista!!
Another fun game to watch. Morrow with another amazing outing (12K's!!)
And to see Bautista hit his 40th after some chin music on the previous at bat was sweet.

If you had told me that Jose Bautista would hit 40 HRs this year, I'd have bet my life savings against it...
Then if you told me he had a realistic shot to hit 50! by the end of the year, I'd have taken out a loan.
Absolutely unreal.
Has anyone ever quite had an age 29 season like the one he is having - completely out of left field?

Its been a great year for him. Its a shame some members of the media in Toronto are trying to run him out of town with phony steroid allegations.

They're bored, they need the exercise, just curious to see what was going on.
I think Buck and Tabler were way out of line defending the pitcher. Sure it's his first major league game but this IS the major leagues and pitchers should be treated as such. Bautista had hit a home run off the guy already and crushed the previous pitch foul into Row X. No doubt to me that he purposely pitched inside and should have been warned because of height near the head.

Media just causing a stir. Bad news sells better than good news. i'm sure AA doesn't care and knows what's going on.

Carlos Pena exploded for 46 home runs when he was 29 after signing a minor league contract with the Rays in the Spring. But he was a very hyped hitting prospect and had put up some decent homerun totals prior to that year.
But I'm with you on this. I was laughing at the start of the year that a utility non starter like Bautista still got 2.4 million in arbitration. He than proceeds to put up what could be the biggest outlier season in recent history. Crazy. At least Brady Anderson had been an everyday player and had a 20 home run season before his 50 home run season, not to mention it being at the height of the juice era when MLB was probably issuing steroids to players to get ratings back.
