Great season to watch the Jays so far. Outperformed expectations, and exciting performances by a lot of the pitchers.
Hope they finish the season strong and show some promise heading into next year.
Who knows, they could finish 33-10 and make a push for the wildcard spot

1. Fataing Sportsnet!!! I want to watch some Jays games dammit!!
2. What's the deal with this SS that they game $1.5 million to when his estimated slotted value was something like $300,000?! Can anyone shed some light on this kid and his situation?

^ I was wondering the same thing considering also the two Cubans are relatively young and the forseeable future of the SS position. Odd.

Thon was a 1st round talent who fell because he was asking 1.5 million. The Jays figured that getting a 10th top 3 rounds calibre player was more important than saving a few bucks.

Good thing I got Sportsnet West - why would I want to watch the Jays this afternoon on the supposed alternate Sportsnet channel when I can watch two soccer teams I've never heard of followed by 2 riveting hours of poker?

Oh, and Cito needs to be replaced now if he continues to sit Snider consistently at the expense of guys like Overbay and Encarnacion.
The guy is the future star of the Jays and he's sat 3 times in the last 12 games so mediocre veterans can play. Throw Lind at 1st or Bautista at 3rd on occasion and keep Snider in the line-up.

You can never have too many young shortstops.

The Jays two games on the West Coast scored more than 480,000 viewers apiece on Rogers Sportsnet. Saturday's game, available only on Sportsnet One to Rogers customers, drew 31,000.

Rzepczynski struggled with command today, 5 hits and 5 walks in 4.1 innings. A's may not be able to hit but they can still out pitch most teams.

3 times in 12 games? Is that really a large number?
If you care to notice, he has put Lind at 1st the odd time so Snider can be in the lineup.

Re: Thon - I don't understand why everyone keeps saying he was first round talent. Baseball America went on record saying they considered him 4th-6th round talent, and Andy Seiler (of MLBBonusBaby.com) who is the most respected individual non-BA name in regards to draft picks said he did not see him as a 1st rounder either. The point is, ultimately, the Jays had to pay to get a premium player who saw himself as a first rounder.
The Logan Ehlers debacle is interesting. I listened to AA on the Fan and he had said Andrew Tinnish, who was handling the deal with Ehlers up until the deadline, had papers in his office sprawled all over the floor. He was really frustrated, because they had a deal in place with Ehlers and at the very last minute they decided to go to college. They rejected 800k, as an 8th rounder.
My understanding is Adaric Kelly and Seth Conner have both signed as well. Kelly received 250k or so, and Conner received 100k. At least, they both have been telling people they signed...so perhaps these were so last minute that they got lost in the shuffle because they are late round players and no one was focused on it. But hopefully we'll know for sure in a couple days. Conner has plus raw power.

This SportsNet 1 thing has me pretty annoyed too. Halfway through the month, they pull about the only thing on SporstNet that makes me keep it around in the Summer. Enough so that I think I'll get rid of SportsNet altogether.

Correction to my original post - 4 times in 12 games, (and 3 of the last 6) which is even more ridiculous. Especially after he missed the majority of the season due to injury and needs all the PAs he can get to catch up on his development.
For a corner outfielder, yeah that's a large number. Corner outfielders can basically be in the line-up on a nightly basis (155+ games) and when someone like Snider needs a break he should be put at DH.
In the same time frame, Encarnacion has sat once and Overbay has sat once as well. Tell me why the team is giving more playing time to mediocre veterans who barely have a future with the club.
And yes I've noticed Lind at 1st for TWO starts. Both of which came during Cito's brilliant period where he's decided to sit Snider so I fail to see how Lind going to 1st is putting Snider back into the lineup.

Overbay just hit his second 3-run HR to make it 9-0 Blue Jays.
Lester looks terrible.

16-2 final score. You know, it's one thing to watch the Jays do that to Baltimore or Cleveland or something, but to me, it means just a little more to watch it happen to Boston.
