I was with them when they introduced the BMO online services in the 90s. I could be wrong though. Truth be told, I never really paid attention to whether or not they had an internal acronym at that time.

Depending on when in the 90s that could be accurate. I'm not old enough to remember anything prior to the mid 90s. Its been BMO for as long as I can remember.
