So as far as music goes down the iPhone work the exact same as the iTouch?
I have an adapter in my car that I plug my old Ipod into, I need to buy a new phone and I am torn between Android, BB and iPhone. Being able to have my music and phone as one and the same is very appealing... I understand that all three can do this, but I was planning on buying a touch regardless.. seems like I could two birds with one stone amirite?
I do this all the time with my iPhone, though I will caution you that not all iPod accessories are iPhone compatible. I would suggest having a friend with an iPhone try it out first.

You realize all those issues are because the 3G is barely able to do half the things in iOS 4 right? It doesn't have the power to do any of it well.
edit: I should really read the rest of the comments before replying. Oh well.
I know, it has a slower CPU and 128mb (half the ram of 3GS, 1/4 of iPhone 4). That is not my problem, my issue is why the hell did Apple even include the 3G in the iOS 4 update if the performance was so bad? How was this not caught during QA? One of the reasons I bought an Apple phone is that I did not want to have to think/tweak anything, I just want it to work (which is the exact opposite of what I want with my PC).
They should have excluded the iOS 4 update from the 3G in addition to the 2G. The problem is now I have to deal with figuring out how to downgrade while avoiding losing anything I've done in my phone since the udpate.
I buy a new phone once every 3 years max, I think it's a waste of money to constantly change handsets, for me a phone is function (phone/email/web/media), I don't oogle over the latest and greatest like I do with PCs.

I have an adapter in my car that uses the Apple plug on the bottom of the device and it works with both an old iPod and my iPhone. It gives it a warning about something when I plug in my iPhone but everything works fine. When a call is coming in the music fades and the ringtone comes through the speaker just like if you were using headphones so you won't miss a call.

I have a touch 2G, and I totally agree. iOS4 is the slowest, buggiest piece of garbage I have ever used. Browser crashes constantly, lag times, etc.
I want to downgrade to but have been way too lazy. Plus are they even going to update the version 3 firmware anymore?, ie: bug fixes. Probably not, but it will still be way better than iOS4.
Am I the only one who is enjoying the fact that Apple had no problem attackng problems with Windows, but now that they are on the receiving end With one of their products, they are acting like a child??? If you can dish it out, you should be able to take it Apple. Man up bitches!
Google should totally make an "I'm an Android, I'm an iPhone" commercial.
The iPhone guy talks but if you touch him he no one can hear him

Older iPod accessories may not be compatible with the iPhone, but they won't be compatible with newer iPods either.
New iPod accessories will work with either.
The reason is that Apple switched from Firewire protocol being communicated to USB Protocol. (not cables, the cables have always been the same)

We bought a new 3GS for my fiancee last week from Bell; they were already sold out of the 32GB so we had to get the 16GB. So it would appear that everybody is running out.
Apple just looks like a bunch of whiney bitches with all these stupid attack videos.
For a supposed industry leader, I would expect more out of them.
Hell, Microsoft never once responded to those ######ed mac vs pc ads, even though some of them bordered on ridiculous.
IMO better PR would have been along the lines of "Apple revolutionized the smart phone, we have revolutionized touch screen interfaces, and as an industry innovator and leader, we will solve this problem as well"
Instead we get "but THEY DO IT TOOO!!!! WAH WAH WAH!!!!"
I'm not any kind of apple fanboy, but to me it isn't an attack; it does educate me to the fact that this is not a unique problem. It seems to be largely getting publicity due to the popularity of the iphone and the joy in watching a big successful company get kicked (which I have to admit I get a little joy from regarding Apple).
While I was originally somewhat concerned whether this was an issue that should possibly keep me from getting an iphone4, now it seems obvious that this is not that big a problem, or only affecting apple.

No matter how ridiculous some of their mac vs pc ads were - they worked.
Good news if you're on Rogers, at least. It's not official but pretty much anyone who got a new phone before June 7th can upgrade. Sounds like how much $ you'll get off the new iPhone depends on the length of your contract and how much your bills have been, etc. I may be able to get one yet. =P
