I know this books been around for a while now, but "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini is a fantastic. I just finished reading it a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it. I recommend it to everyone.

Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace

Grab a short story collection from Gogol... a collection that contains "The Overcoat" would encompass a perceived time of strength for his writing.

Orhan Pamuk's Snow is quite good.

Death of a Salesman was much better than I could have imagined.

Really anything by Vonnegut if you just need a quick read but with depth and humour.

Totally easy reading (I read it in one afternoon) but it's bloody hilarious. It started as a blog, and ended up as a book.

What's funny is the books refer to eachothers theories occasionally. All 5 of the above are worth reading especially the Super Freakanomics section on Global Warming.

If you liked Into Thin Air you should also read "The Climb". It's Anatoli Boukreev's account of the same year on Everest and it provides another perspective of the events that occurred.

Krakauer really piled on Boukreev so it's a bit of a rebuttal as well. Maybe not as eloquently written but it's a good read.

If you haven't yet read the Song of Fire and Ice series, you need to.

The first book is being made into a HBO series that will air in the Spring I believe. But be warned, it will ruin fiction novels for you, and the series is not yet done (still 2 books to complete it).

The last book I went to buy was the Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac. I went up to the counter to pay and some hipster told me it was the greatest book ever and the only thing he read on a two month long road trip. I thanked him and told him that I didn't want it anymore.

I'm waiting for the TV show version of this. Seriously, with William Shatner as the dad it can't go wrong. Actually, it could go very very wrong. But it'll be entertaining either way.
