I really like the trade (and all ya'll wanted to fire Colangelo...what other option is better than him?). What I like about the Colangelo is he doesn't sit on his hands. He really really works hard at improving. Now he just needs to get rid of the pure Euro trend. What I find incredible about this deal, if true, is that despite all the deals, the TPE is still intact for the Raps. I really like Chandlers' defence as he's a pure defensive juggernaut with some solid athleticism. Diaw will probably be off the bench, but a solid two way player, like a poor mans Battier, and Barbosa is that fairly athletic scorer who can play good defence. It definitely hurts to see Calderon as he really wanted to be part of the team, and I hope he finds success in Charlotte, and when he does return to Toronto, I hope the crowd gives him a standing O for being the spark of the team for those couple seasons. Evans, Hedo, good riddance. I still don't see Jack as a championship PG, so I'm hoping somehow Collison can be somehow had with Jack + TPE. I don't know why, but the team actually looks much more solid than last year. Could be the huge defence improvement. I just hope now that DeRozan comes as advertised this season because he is despirately going to be needed scoring baskets. I can hardly wait now.

No, the other way around: If Miami had a bad contract, Toronto could take it for free regardless of cap.
Some examples would be, say, acquiring a complete bum of a contract plus a cheap, valuable player or pick, such as getting Stojakovic and Collison from New Orleans, or Brand and Turner from Philly without moving back any big assets. Or picking up a good but overpaid player, such as Arenas. Another suggestion I've heard is that the Raptors could target Tony Parker (I'd love this, although I'm not sure if we have the assets to make it appealing to San Antonio). Or possibly the best use is to hold onto it until next July 1st, then use it to swing a sign-and-trade to acquire a UFA player like Kirilenko (or Yao Ming, but that's wishful thinking).

Always liked Chandler, but injuries have been a big problem for him - he can absolutely dominate on defense whenever he wants.
This team lacks that star though, that is for sure.
The only way the Raps are going to be successful is if they play up tempo 100% of the time. They've got a deep lineup, but lack the top end skill, so they've got to be going balls to the wall 100% of the time or they're not going to win.
If they run, push the ball, play tough defense - they've got a chance.
The plus side is though, that this team is built just right to do that.
The problem is, you're asking NBA players to buy in and essentially play like college players, where every possession is like life and death... Do we have the right coach to do that?

I don't know, but PJ Carlesimo is probably the right assistant coach to do that.

Derek Fisher rejected the Superfriends in Miami and is staying with the Lakers, 2 years plus a player option for a third

I am liking the deal that everybody is talking about. The only player I am not pond of is Barbosa. He is more like a ball hog and he will shoot the ball no matter what(out of position or even someone is open). I saw a few Phoenix game when they put Barbosa in, he started shooting the ball and most of them were not even close.

That's pretty much what his job is. He's actually pretty good for what he is, but he is just a 6th man (in reality).
His speed is insane. The Brazilian Blur!

Haha, now the rumour is that Michael Jordan (some guy who owns the Bobcats) is having second thoughts on this deal. It's taking so long, I don't think it's going to happen.

^ the odd part is the players have already been told about the deal. Probably Jordan last minute looking to get more, but it better go through.

Or it's just for appearances. If the deal backfires next year, then MJ can save face because he's made it look like he put up a fight.

Well, at least the Hedo trade went through. Awful for the players involved in the Charlotte transaction, especially considering that all four of them are classy individuals.

Chandler now traded to Dallas. Hope they can still deal Jose and get a decent return. Per Twitter
chadfordinsider
Chandler to the Mavs is a very nice coup for Mark Cuban. Bryan Colangelo can't be a happy man right now.

Yeah, honestly the Calderon/Diaw/Evans/Chandler trade was bad for Charlotte, but this Chandler/Dampier/Carroll/Najera deal is brutal for them.
