Agreed, the next time you are caught going over the speed limit you should be given 99 lashes. You could have killed someone speeding!

The Iranian's aren't wiping out a minority group. They're applying their laws (barbaric to us, for sure) as they see fit......HUGE difference.
As for the woman herself - I dunno. She says she didn't do it, confessed only after torture and even then only 3 of 5 judges convicted her. From both my Western and Human point of view, death seems a bit much. I could understand a jail sentence or something, but state sponsored murder should only be for situations in which there is no doubt at all.....

From my Western and Human point of view I'd say that she's not guilty, at least not guilty of the death penalty, because the jury, or judges, or government can't prove without a shadow of a doubt that she committed the crime.
It doesn't even matter what the crime is either.

I'm 99% sure that her killing has nothing to do with adultery. Most likely her husband (or some other male in the family) wants to get rid of her without shaming himself (getting a divorce).
The details just don't add up to anything else.

I don't.... but to want to make it a criminal offense (as you do) is one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard you say.... and trust me... you've said a lot.

Who cares? Even if she did it, does she deserve any type of criminal sentence... let alone a death sentence?

I see no reason to trust you. In fact your interest in me seems rather unsavory.

You're right, we should stop helping all other nations, I mean after all, we're imposing our morality on them.

Clearly, "the reason" is the regime's brand of radical Islam which tends to theologize women as chattels of men and the bearer of humanity's evil through their sex.
Any regime which practices stoning, period, probably doesn't deal too much in what we would call reasonable governance.

That's A crappy way to die. This is strictly from A culture standpoint as the death penalty is against islam's beliefs.
Ahmedineedashorternameijad has always been a crazy mo-fo that is part of a islamic cult which doesn't follow the traditional beliefs. Guy is seriously messed in the head, and I wouldn't want there to be a war with Iran as Nuclear weapons would probably used against both sides.

Yet all Islamic nations have the death penalty and use it for all kinds of simple offenses.
Sharia law regularly recommends death to offenders of certain laws.
But your somewhat right about the Qaran not being about the death penalty, but you are also somewhat wrong.
Neat how religion works that way
Does Islam support the death penalty?
Quote:
[Editor's Note: The above quote states that only "two cases" exist for which the Qur'an allows the death penalty. The first case is for murder. The second case applies to "crimes committed against the community" which, depending on who is interpreting the Qur’an, may include: treason, apostasy (when one leaves the faith and turns against it), terrorism, piracy, rape, adultery, and homosexual activity.]
|
You can read the whole thing here, again for me its not a matter of what some book says but what people do under that belief system, its action not words that matter and in that case Islam most definitely is for capital punishment.
