C'mon Kiwis!

I feel compelled to ask how often you feel the game is disgraced? With 20 or so games already played there have been dozens of dives at least as bad. Perhaps if you reveal what country you cheer for it will explain the bias.

Di Natale needs to play the whole game. Gilardino is a ghost when he plays.

Absolutely, and those elbows need to stop too, but selling a minor foul (there's a ton of grabbing everytime there's a center to the penalty area) like that... some players have 0 integrity and respect for the sport.

I wake up and we're talking about diving again?
Diving is part of the game. It has nothing to do with integrity and respect.
If the ref is stupid, I'd dive to win a penalty too. I'm smart!

Way too often. I am not singling out Italians. I understand minor embelishing (who doesn't ever cheat?) but blatant diving...that's not cool.
I'd rather not reveal the country I cheer for (althought it's no secret from my posts) because I'd have to walk away in shame (not because my team dives but because it can't play worth crap).

I don't like simulation but I certainly agree with you Girly. The Italians aren't any worse than any of the other 31 nations. They do seem to roll around a bit more but they don't dive any more than anyone else.

That's the sad part, that people think it's normal.
Look at that last play....guy gets tapped in the back of the head, and goes down clutching his forehead. Such a shame...the game doesn't need this.

Curious as to how that statement can be accurate.
Diving is not part of the game in any rulebook is it? Therefor, by extrapolation, it does affect the integrity of the game...whether it is an accepted practice or not.
This Italian team is embarrassing.

Considering your team actually made the World Cup, their already in the bonus round! Walk away happy......although they shouldve beat NZ.

Is fighting part of the game in hockey? Doesn't say anywhere in the game that you are allowed to fight...

I'd like an underdog to win it all. Chile perhaps?

The only thing embarassing about this Italian team is that they are currently tied with NZL.

As has been said, if you find the Italian's embarrassing you must hate football because this game has been no better or worse than any of the other games I've watched so far this tourney.
Simulation is an accepted part of football in most parts of the world. It might affect the integrity to some but for most of the world it isn't a big deal. Heck, France's goal in the 06 final was a blatant dive and it didn't effect the integrity of the game in most people's eyes. Even the play by play guys go along with the diving and will describe a play as heinous even if a blatant dive.

You shouldn't need to have a rule saying you don't act like a gutless little . Having testicles should be enough.

Diving = fighting when talking integrity of the game. OK then.

Poor analogy as there is a rule against fighting that is consistently called - you fight...you go to the box and feel shame. While there are rules in place for diving the referees lack the courage (or the administrative backing) to make the difficult call.

I know but it's frustrating, not only the lack of execution but lack of effort too.
That's what I don't get. If I am a young player playing for 3rd tier club, I get to the world stage, I have a chance to showcase myself and maybe get a chance to play in a solid club and make FREAKIN MILLIONS...and I completely dog it? I don't show ounce of effort, if not skill? Mind boggling. If nothing else I'd at least run up and down like crazy, this pedestrian football they produced was beyong pathetic.

You and I must be watching a different World Cup. I don't see anything close to this when I watch England, USA, Germany, Denmark, etc.....
