In your opinion maybe, I find his entire schtick to be tired and sad. Not the least bit interesting or entertaining.
Exactly.
My biggest problem with Reilly's article isn't that he doesn't like soccer, it is that he is making jokes that have been made a 1000 times and thinking he is clever. Jim Rome has made these jokes for 20 years (tongue in cheek)
I used to care that few people liked soccer, because it meant I couldn't watch it on TV. Now that it has enough of a base that I can watch EPL and CL games, I could care less if people don't appreciate it.

Uruguay playing pretty well. Forlan looks dangerous nearly every time he's got the ball.
South Africa is way too tentative playing in front of their fans. Uruguay havng played negative to earn a point against France is now stepping on the gas against who it deems to be inferior opposition.

Yikes...it was a tongue in cheek article...not sure why anyone would be at all offended by it.
Hell I remember when he would write similar things about hockey...people freaked. It wasnt all serious stuff...just some observations even if they have been made by Jim Riome, doesnt mean those that read Reilly listen to the "have a take" master.
Reilly...11 time National Sportswriter of the year...but a hack if your a soccer fan??
We spent the morning here at the Lifehacker labs trying out the settings ourselves, and found that if you duck your EQ at 465Hz and 235Hz, you can in fact filter out the buzz with great results. Ideally you'll reduce each frequency by at least 40dB (which got rid of the drone completely for us), but if your equipment can't quite duck that low, just go as low as you can. Here's how it worked when we tried it in GarageBand on a Mac:
I never heard of this, but if true the Germans are the smartest team in the world and the rest are wild idiots. If you could use the ball for 4 months prior to the World Cup to get used to it why in the world wouldnt you?
"Since December 2009 the adidas Jabulani has been used at the highest professional level in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Russia, Switzerland, Argentina and South Africa."
Maybe they used it the whole time and the others only used it for a few games. Tough to say from the article.
I asked this in the iPad thread too, but I'll ask it here as well. Can someone confirm for me how well (or if) watching games live on the CBC.ca website works on an iPad?
Someone needs to inform whoever is doing the play by play on the CBC online feed that Chile isn't playing hahahaha. I swear I've heard him call Urugauy Chile at least a dozen times.

I think the chances of Spain getting their financial house in order is better than having a Spanish team play up to their potential at the World Cup. Mind you from what I saw that game was all Spain, they could still rebound. Than again they could also pay back their debt, but they'll likely opt to go bankrupt again.
