Hmmm, I know all 3 of the intersections (coming S on Crowchild) up to this point have no u-turn signs but I am 99.9% sure that there is not a sign at 66th. My wife's mum lives on the East side of Crowchild and I do a U-Turn at that intersection all the time.
Unless it is the intersection before that, at longridge drive, then the old man is just a as it is 2 lanes right there.
Old man got what he deserved IMO. I would have beat the tar out of him as well for intentionally bumping my car as well, especailly if he had the nerve to threaten me with a hammer.
Ah, the good ol' "sorry, I screwed up" wave, the ultimate anger dissipator. That works on me every time. Someone can screw up badly and I'd be all pissed, but once they give me the wave, any anger I had just disappears. I think it's the fact that they knew they screwed up. I mean, mistakes happen, we're all human.
Couldn't agree more. A guy in a SUV started changing lanes into my vehicle on Westbound McKnight last night. He didn't seem to hear my warning tap on the horn so I leaned on the horn while moving onto the shoulder. He finally stopped the lane change and returned to his lane. I was pissed and my heart was pounding as I drove up beside the SUV. The driver had that humble apolegetic look and was obviously contrite. I was instantly calm and practically forgot the incident by the next intersection. Its for this reason that I don't instantly flip the bird if I've been wronged on the road. I would have felt like crap for hours if I'd flipped off a driver who was admitting his mistake.

Yeah, it's never good when a senior dies from an attack or beating from a young person (I believe there was an incident where an old man died in Bowness recently after one punch from a little punk).
But if there's one positive, it's thinking about the stupid punk who thinks he's tough, having to go through the rest of his life knowing he killed someone, when he probably thought he could just play the stupid "tough guy" role without any real consequences.

Yesterday morning on Deerfoot some dumb lady starts changing lanes into my lane without even looking. So I give her some warning honks and slow down so she doesn't collide with me. What does she do? Fingers me though her back window and speeds off. Right.
So many people do this, I don't get it. I've been damn near run off the road because someone didn't look while lane changing. The other day this truck decided to make a quick left to right lane change so he could turn at the light, almost drove right into me. I leaned on the horn, hit the brake and was getting ready to drive into the shoulder to avoid getting hit. He finally corrected hit path, but then speeds up behind me, swearing, fingering me, flipping out like a complete tard. What gives? I really don't understand people like that.
I didn't lean on the horn to piss him off, I did it to avoid an accident! Would this person be happy if I didn't hit the horn and have them smash into me, they end up getting a ticket, probably higher insurance, possibly severe damage to their truck? WTF.

I can't help to think that you think it's OK because there isn't a sign.
I am pretty sure that you can make a u-turn at an uncontrolled intersection.
A cop could technically still give you a ticket if he deemed you were "interfering with other traffic" which the kids in the car were probably doing, but yeah, you're right, you can make u-turns at uncontrolled intersections.
Why couldn't the driver making the u-turn just take a right into the shopping center there and turn around that way? I've exited there a couple times while eastbound on Glenmore by mistake.

That would be the proper way to turn around, clearly the old guy was upset because the other car was blocking the road.
Interfering with the flow of traffic makes it an illegal U Turn whether it was signed or not.
Reminds incident when I was about 10. My dad would have been about 55 at the time, and we were at Bouchard Gardens in Victoria. Some 20 something year old guy in a Trans Am decided to just barge in and take a spot my dad had been waiting for, for about 5 minutes. My dad got out of our station wagon, walked up to the guy, and asked him to move since he had signalled and waited for the spot for 5 minutes or so, while the other family was packing their stuff in the car. This greaseball punk proceeded to spit on my dad, and say "F*@% you old man!" My dad literally pulled the guy out through the window / T-top of the car and started feeding the guy shots like he was pull starting a lawnmower. Grease ball skid guy was actually crying, got in his car doing that hyper ventialting lower lip quivering crying, and sped off.
I learned three things that day. People from Victoria are Pussay's, my dad was bonafide badass f'ing awesome, and never mess with old man strength.
