You can't exactly say you're defending yourself when the people on the ship you're attacking are actually defending themselves. That's ######ed.

Cuban Missile Crisis.

It would be a far worse issue if the blockade took place in declared water ways.

That would be considered an invasion of soverign waters.

The difference being, the UN approved the blockade of Yugoslavia. This one has been condemned by the international community since 2007.

Did it? I won't bother checking, but since Russia has a veto, I very much doubt it.

Israel is damned if they do, damned if they don't. With that in mind, they might as well do what they think is best for them.

The other five boats were boarded peacefully - it makes me wonder what was this boat was carrying that the people on board decided to risk their lives for?

Maybe they weren't aware they would be killed when they resisted?

My $0.02,

If this were ANY other country under the microscope, Canada, the US, and the UK would all be condemning the actions taken place.

But because this is Israel under the microscope, they instead want to 'get more information' before making a public comment.

I'm starting to think my dad is right. True, we're not getting the whole story, but all is not as we're told to believe in occupied Palestine.

Not if the people on the ship were given clear orders to not proceed and they didn't listen.

I can't even care anymore. I just want the peaceful secular folk on both sides to solve the freakin' problem. I know it's stupid, but sometimes I just feel like deporting everyone who supports Hamas, and deporting everyone who supports the ultra-Zionist 'sky fairy told me this is my land' parties from Israel, would actually open up an avenue of discussion.

I know that's not reasonable. It's just what I feel like so much of the goddamn time.

If the reports saying the protesters grabbed weapons from the commandos than the commandos had every right to fight back.

In fact they had every right to use all the firepower necessary to defend themselves.

The thing is, the Israelis did have to stop the ships. You can't allow unchecked shipments go into a country you are at war with. This flotilla, if left unstopped, would have opened the gateway for further shipments, I just wish that 19 people hadn't died.
