Strasburg with another no-hit outing in AAA. They've been showing him on tv a lot here, he may be the best pitcher pitching anywhere right now. For the most part, AAA players aren't even coming close to hitting anything out of the infield. 2 no hitters and 2 one hitters in 5 outings, crazy!

Getting excited to see him called up, and trying to figure out when to make plans to go to his first game.

I'm jealous, nfotiu, that you may get to see him!

Anyway, found this crazy tidbit:

http://mopupduty.com/index.php/bobby...ion-in-salary/
Bobby Bonilla Still Owed $30 Million in Salary

The Mets finally had enough and released him on January 3rd, 2000. Bobby had one year and $5.9 million owing on his contract. Looking for financial flexibility, the Mets worked out a deal where they did not have to pay Bonilla his owed salary in 2000. They worked out an interest and payment plan for the remaining $5.9 million owed.

The payment plan starts next season.

Bobby B will be paid $1.193 million dollars in 2011. And 2012. And 2013…. all the way up until 2035!

The original terms of the deferment are as follows:
Payment does not begin until 2011
Bonilla will be paid 25 equal payments of $1.193 million
Assumes an annual interest rate of 8% for 2000-2035

In total he’ll be paid just a shade under $30 million for forgoing one year of salary!

Oswalt is elite, but everyone should be weary of NL pitchers coming to the AL. Time and time again NL pitchers break down when coming to the AL, but there are some gems like Beckett who thrive. I didn't realize Oswalt is that old though?

Is there a reason the Nats aren't calling him up?

to avoid super 2 status. He'll get paid a lot more if they call him up now instead of 3 weeks from now.

This is pretty cool.

Quote:
ST. PETERSBURG -- Manager Joe Maddon is having his team start the next road trip in style. As part of a theme travel day to Toronto for the Rays' three-game series against the Blue Jays from Monday to June 2, Maddon asked all his players to wear hockey jerseys. He had a simple answer when asked why.

"We're going to Canada -- Stanley Cup week," said Maddon, referring to the fact that the Stanley Cup Finals between Philadelphia and Chicago start Saturday. "[It's] the national pastime of the great country of Canada."

Maddon, who said he will be wearing a St. Louis Blues jersey, noted that he had no preference as to who wins the championship.

Well this is why Steve Phillips managed to spend a tonne of money and deliver next to nothing.

Not to mention the first few times Strasburg is pitching, that park will be full. They can trade for Roy Oswalt...and no one will give a damn.

Seen it yesterday and Guillen respectfully let him have it and let it rip to the media from his armchair. The guy should be fired. Even the PBP guys were saying the ump should sit after that awful call. How anyone could have been kicked out for balking is absolutely ridiculous and he should simply be fired. Beurhle didn't say a word and just bent over. If the guy isn't at the least disciplined, you know the ump union has huge pull.
