I like him too, but he's drawing Marshall comparisons and he isn't there yet.
Not only is he a UNC product, but he's a Colorado Springs native. Always good to see the local kids use those small schools to make the jump. UNC was division 2 when he signed out of high school too. Impressive.

Sooo, Payton is addicted to Vicodin and Joe Vitt steals Vicodin?? Is that what I'm getting from all of this?

Yep, they're a bunch of junkies.
Sounds like this may be one of those things where we'll never get the real story. Sure, the accusations could be true. Or, it could be a guy that was asked to leave and decided that he was going to take someone else down with him. This is one reason I don't make fun of other teams when bad things happen, it won't take long before it's someone on your team.
Either way, as I understand it, Brett Favre has requested a trade to the Saints...

Brees for Favre?! OK, I guess.
But these are some pretty serious accusations towards the team. Peter King has a pretty good synopsis of the whole thing on MMQB. Loomis and Vitt could be in pretty deep, if it's all true.

Definitely serious accusations, which is all they are right now. Especially the DEA has had the case since June 2009. Hopefully it all works itself out without damaging the team too badly.
As for Favre, the Saints could use a quality backup QB. Seems like a 4th round pick is the going rate these days. When reached for comment, Favre stated that he had heard about the Vicodin abuse allegations and "wanted in on that action".
In other (better) news, Darren Sharper re-signed with the Saints. 1 year deal, undisclosed $.

Sharper's deal: 1 year, $1.75 mil with a $75k signing bonus, roster bonuses of up to $1 mil.
That's a steal if he's healthy and returns to last year's form.

He did have surgery, that's why I commented on his health. I'm hoping for a full recovery, but I understand microfracture surgery can be more debilitating as you get older.
I'm looking forward to Sharper helping groom Malcolm Jenkins for the FS role in the future.

Yeah but the report that it was microfracture as opposed to the much less severe arthroscopic came out today. I was just pointing that out.
I wish the Jets had signed him. He had said a couple months ago he would love to play for Rex Ryan, but oh well.

5 Year extension for Patrick Willis. Awesome news.
Quote:
The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis has signed a five-year contract extension through 2016, and a source with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that the deal includes $29 million guaranteed and is worth a maximum of $50 million.

Patrick Willis playing for Mike Singletary, the only thing that could make that better was if they were with the Chicago Bears. I think the Niners are going to be the team to beat in the NFC West this coming season. They have what should be a very tough defence, and the offence should be improved enough to give that defence enough points.

Jahri Evans signs largest contract ever for an OG. 7 years 57 million...but only 19 guaranteed.
Those boys that keep Brees upright are gonna keep seeing the big bucks for sure.

Judge rules in favor of the NFL in the Starcaps case. Vikings Williamses, Saints Smith and former Saint Charles Grant will sit 4 games pending appeal.

LT...one of the single greatest players in NFL history, but there has always been something "off" with him....including his drug history.
15 YO girl? Holy hannah is that just a sad end to what was an iconic career in NY.

The Raiders release the fatman.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5168757
$39 million later and the Raiders finally admitted their mistake. Russell has to rank up with Leaf as the biggest bust ever (although the Raiders weren't stupid enough to trade up to select him). The bar Campbell has to jump over to exceed expectations left by Russell is pretty low.
Have fun back in Louisiana, JaMarcus. Vegas has the over/under on you reaching 4 bills at 15 months.
