Well, my initial thought was jubilation, because I was drunk and said screw it I'll buy in.

Upon further review, McDaniels has bet his job on Teebus Christ. My guess is that he modifies the offense around Tebow's skills set, implementing even more spread offense sets. The pros going into it are that Tebow is the ultimate coaches player and was arguably the best college football player of all time. He's going to do every single thing asked of him and more. We're going to find out if Coach Mac really is a QB guru, because Tebow has skills, that's for sure. The question now is can Coach mold Tebow into what he needs.

Tebow will never be your traditional NFL QB. And trying to make him one would be a waste of his talents. He has already been able to tweak his throwing motion to a more traditional motion. What he has a chance to be is part of a new type of QB in the NFL.

Of course, he could just never be able to hack it in the pros, be an abject failure and be Coach Mac's downfall. We'll know at the start of next season, when Tebow will without doubt be the starter.

Yeah, he announced his retirement (the press conference is today) yesterday and the Seahawks have already retired his number 71.

ESPN reporting Favre needs ankle surgery before he can play again.

SI is now reporting on how this went down...during the interview, they say, the exchange was this..

Ireland: What did your father do for a living when you were growing up?

Bryant: My dad was a pimp.

Ireland: What did your mother do for a living?

Bryant: She worked for my dad.

Ireland: So your mother was a prostitute?

Bryant: No my mother was not a prositute.

It still shocks me that after Garcia's achievements in the NFL as a career replacement QB that he cant seem to find a cemented job as at least a backup

Jeff Garcia had a bit of say there too. He doesn't neccessarily want to go somewhere and be a full time backup QB. He did the Eagles a favor for 2 weeks when McNabb was injured last year knowing it would be short term. But the guy still wants to find a place where he can be the starter, and if he can't, he's not really interesting in playing.

And now Bryant's people are saying those are lies.

It has turned into a he said/she said, with some media outlets saying the Dolphins version is true and other outlets saying if that was the case why did Ireland apologize so quickly then try to let a few leaks spin out this story.

I don't know who is true, Bryant isn't known for being the most upstanding citizen, but the way the Dolphins have handled it seems weird (this story coming through leaks, the only official thing said has been the apology).

But he hasn't done anything for a long time now, and it isn't like the clock stopped ticking waiting for him to find a team. As much as I would like to see him play, I think Garcia is done. He has a very Flutie like career.

He did lead the Buccaneers winning the NFC South in 2007 by starting 13 games and did have 11 starts in 2008. But he did take pretty much all of 2009 off.

I would agree that he's a guy likely isn't going to be offered a starting gig. But I think think that if he was willing to be a backup and willing to help mentor a young starting QB that NFL teams would be interested and backup QB's still make a pretty good wage. It's up to him if he wants that though, he doesn't strike me as a guy who needs to work though and he is 40 years old now.

The Raiders cut him in favor of JaMarcus. Had the Raiders gone with Garcia instead, I think they would have had a decent shot at 8-8.

If Alex Smith struggles mightily in the preseason/first few weeks of the regular season, I could see the 49ers signing him to get through the season competitive and then enter the 2011-12 season with a new franchise QB in tow.

There is something to be said for taking a guy who will do whatever it takes to get on the team and win, he is truly the anti-jamarcus.... as a chargers fan, i dont really pull for him but if he can get it done, power to him for working his tail off

Given where Teebow was taken in the draft the Bronco's won't die cap wise for what they'll have to pay him. Plus the guy will do everything he can to earn what he gets paid. As dirk says...the anti-jamarcus, the exact words I would use to describe Teebow.

That said he needs to work on his footwork and his delivery. But McDaniels did make Matt Cassel who was a full time college backup into a QB who was able to win 10 games, and sucker his former GM into giving him 31 million dollars guaranteed. So if he can get the other talent in place....he should be able to do at least that much with Teebus.

Again i am a chargers fan and a big fan of Rivers and his delivery is quite different but gets the job done nicely... so who is to say. it is funny how the sports "gurus" are already calling certain picks and saying what a bad pick it was, wait 4 years and make that call...

Rivers, and I hate the guy as a Broncos fan, has some of the same qualities that Tebow does. I think that Rivers is the best leader at the QB position in the NFL. I think the Chargers receiving corps (outside of Gates) is grossly overrated and that Rivers is the most underrated player in the NFL.

i know some dont care for the guy but he is a great leader and wants to win more than anyone, he is the least of the chargers problems.. i wouldnt say Vincent Jackson is overrated, he is pretty good. but i agree, rivers is a great player
