Broad brush time.
By the fact that those types of views are rarely challenged or even addressed on that board is the sin of omission of which I am then able to freely use my broad brush.

I reiterate that site is a cess pool. But considering how you and I never see eye to eye on something how about you let me have the last word this time?

God, no kidding, eh? Don't be a hypocrite JustAnotherGuy. Tell us who you are and have the mods change your username to your real name if you actually believe what you are saying.

I do believe what I am saying. But like I said already. There are too many anonymous people on the internet who would screw with that information.

The visious cycle has been started and it can't be stopped.

There are a few forums out there that require you to use your real name... Keeps the discourse quite civil, actually.

It's interesting to see how the US approach to these cases compares with the Canadian version.

It is also worth noting that there is nothing in Canada like s. 230 of the Communications Decency Act in the USA which protects the "provider" of an "interactive computer service" from liability for postings of another user. If the Freedominion case occurred in the USA the people who run the site couldn't - if my understanding of s. 230 is correct - be made defendants to that action. In exchange for that immunity, I think it makes some sense to lower the bar for the disclosure of subscriber information from the providers of interactive computer services. The American experience seems to focus the lawsuit on those that utter the allegedly defamatory words.

It's like Congress said to the website operators "Fine, we won't hold you accountable for what annonymous nozzles post on your website but if someone complains about those posts we are going to call on you to cooperate with the complainant to hold said nozzles accountable."

If you say so.

With some of the nut cases, flim flam artists, predators and out right thieves lurking on the net, keeping some type of anonymity is a good thing.

Indeed. Your ability to hypocritically hide behind an anonymous username allows you to spread sanctimonious bullcrap without fear of reprisal, eh?

Do you honestly not understand the point he's making? The basis for anonymity isn't always about a desire to hide a connection between yourself and your words, it's about hiding from people who talk about things like "reprisal".

Cry about it. I was there early and I had to work early. Besides, your Sens fan propaganda schtick was wearing thin.

Why would I cry about it unless they were tears of joy?

You do realize that, despite your anonymity, your real identity is still easy enough to track down by certain types of people, don't you?

As long you as by victims you don't mean recording companies, and by you justice you don't mean lawsuits. I'd hate for this to open up the door for lawsuits regarding downloading.
