My girlfriend has been trying to convince me to move to San Diego. After going there 2 weeks ago and seeing what they consider cold, I'm pretty tempted.

We were there for XMas - it was +20 and they were in overcoats. We were impressed.

Same here, the past 2 times we've had snow Fido/Rogers has gone down for me. Their excuse is bad weather... I say their network is garbage.

Same thing when you go to resorts in Mexico. I laugh when it's 22 degrees in the morning and the staff all put their winter jackets on.

I just talked to a Rogers representative. Only thing you can do is try a battery pull reset. Basically their network can't handle snow....talk about your successful Canadian business plans...

My Rogers is just fine, but then my sister is fairly high up the food chain in the Toronto HQ, so I am probably on the special management network.

This is the only outage i've noticed in about 2 years with them. If it happens in the future, i'd consider switching providers again.

Do you just keep getting an "sos" symbol where your service bars should be?

No, I get "No Service". It's on an iPhone. I switched it off, but powering back up it wants me to connect to itunes. And I don't have iTunes at work so I guess i'm stuck without a phone till I get home tonight. Hah.

Their network is mostly microwave technology. It's less expensive than underground but the weather can manifest havoc and chaos.

My iPhone only works on Edge right now. I have to disable 3G and switch to airplane mode to get it to transition (takes about a minute). Weird.

It's the first time I've had issues with Rogers where I'm sitting. One benefit is that the Edge network (or the network in general) seems much faster. Maybe because a bunch of people have been knocked off.

hmm, sometimes I miss the snow in Calgary, like when its March or April and i'm already doing yard work. But is now May. This thread started a month ago and Calgarians are still getting the odd snow storm.

Its been the mid to high 20's here for weeks

Worst part is, we'll probably see another June snowstorm like last year. April showers bring May flowers.......
