Yankees turned a 5-4-3 triple play this afternoon in Oakland. The last time the Yankees turned a triple play was June 3rd, 1968. A span of 6,632 games.

Man, what a god awful team they are. Ever since they lost Barry Bonds, they have been terrible every single year.

Incredible. One thing I love about baseball. Something historic happens almost every single day.

Yeah, and they have a nice new stadium as well. It's not like they're in a Division thats brutally hard either. The Cardinals, Astros and Cubs can generate pretty good revenues but these teams are generating about 200-250 million....nothing like the Yankees making 350 to 440 type of thing.

Also of note in the Yankees last triple play back in 1968. It was a 1-5-3 triple play against the Twins. First baseman for the Yankees on that play? None other than Mickey Mantle.

The Brewers swept them in 3 games outscoring them 36-1. the last time a series ended with the losing team getting swept and losing by more than 30 runs in total? 1960.
they are seriously muti-generational bad.

Yeah, he wasn't as sharp as he always is.
But, the one run was unearned, and nobody made it past 2nd.
He also utilized his defense quite well.
Lee comes back April 30. Bedard in May sometime.

My rays are killing it! Finally getting the bat support they needed so badly last year. Hopefully the bats don't go cold and we can get into the playoffs which means post season trip to tampa for this guy! Also for all the Jays fans I feel bad that we are going to be delivering the beat down of a life time this weekend!
go rays go

2. New York Mets, $268 million
3. Boston Red Sox, $266 million
4. Los Angeles Dodgers, $247 million
5. Chicago Cubs $246 million
Bottom Five Revenue Teams
30. Florida Marlins, $144 million
29. Pittsburgh Pirates, $145 million
28. Oakland Athletics, $155 million
27. Kansas City Royals, $155 million
26. Tampa Bay Rays, $156 million
But it doesn't matter how nice a ballpark they build in Pittsburgh, or how much they win in Oakland, or if they go to 3D baseball on television in Cincinnati. It doesn't matter how much they may tinker with revenue-sharing and luxury taxes... the Yankees' revenue stream is so enormous, it will give them a gigantic competitive advantage that should make them the favorites to win every... single... year. True, they won't win every single year because of baseball's quirks -- the fluctuations of age, the vagaries of a short series, the forcefulness of a hot starting pitcher, the volatile state of free agency, the overconfidence that winning breeds and so on. And there will be shifts in baseball; that's one great thing about the game. Nothing is permanent.
But it's good to look at the Forbes numbers just to comprehend what's really happening out there right now. Since the 1994-95 strike, the New York Yankees have won 57.9% of their games -- that's 94 wins per year. That's the most in baseball -- more even than the Atlanta Braves, who were so dominant for so long. The Yankees have won 100 games five times. They have made the playoffs every year but one. They have won the toughest division in baseball 11 of the 15 seasons. They have won five World Series and two other pennants, and it took a Boston miracle to beat them in the Championship Series in 2004. And still, you get the distinct impression from many Yankees fans that they feel -- they KNOW -- that the Yankees have underachieved.

This will never be corrected until there is a hard salary cap in place. Which will never happen, and will cost the sport dearly!

Given that Baseballs revenues are at an all time high, attendance is at an all time high...I don't think anything is costing Baseball dearly right now. If a team like the Pirates could put a half ways decent product on the field, the revenue sharing cheque they get thanks to the Yankees would be more than enough to keep them profitable.

Baseball doesn't need a salary cap.
They need competent people running all the teams. Seattle has had sub-par seasons before and they never lost $30 million.

Crazy heart-breaker for the M's today.
The game was actually televised up here so that was nice.
Go into the 9th tied.
Mariners score 2 with a fan interfering with play.
But then Aardsma gives up 2 HR's with the 2nd being a two run walk off.
Was a good game to watch, my first of the year that I caught.

Yeah, pretty ridiculous that SN won't run more games.
Western Canada probably has a lot of Mariner fans considering Seattle is closer than Toronto is.
Either way, looks like Lee is starting tomorrow. Should be a good one.
