Tell that to the main forum about Kipper last year vs this year. Phaneuf is another prime example.

Don't think you've really answered that so far.

He just doesn't have the impact on the game he had last year in Saginaw. Last year you'd notice him every time you watched him making good plays and moving pucks up. This year he's been more of just a guy. Again... his stats mean little on a stacked team much like Neimsz. When your team scores so many goals and has such a giant goal differential you're going to have points and a good plus minus if you play much.

Phaneuf has had HUGE expectations on him since his rookie year, anything less than spectacular is for him.
Kipper has proven hes an elite goalie in this league, if some noobs didn't think so in his one down year than so be it.

And yet, before he was traded, he was absolutely ripping it up in Saginaw. Just seems to me like he took on a different role on a different team and has succeded nicely.

It can also be the case that the player contributes to the points and +/-. If the player is not contributing, then the icetime should go down.
It just seems odd to say, that team is great so he's not very good. But, then again, that is why I wouldn't take Greene for the Norris (too many starts on the team that inflate his numbers, especially on the PP)...

So from what i've read about Nemisz, how is his potential any different than Chuko's at the same age????

Nemisz is playing in the CHL, something Chucko never did.
Nemisz was good enough to make Canada's World Junior team, also something Chucko never did.

He just strikes me as another slow skating, big bodied forward who’s racking up points while playing with a stellar centre (Hall, Zajac)
I just can’t get excited about Nemisz at all.

Perhaps thats a good thing. Nemisz has little to no hype and comes into training camp looking like a big time player leaving us all wondering 'who the hell is this kid?'.

I don't think Hall plays centre but anyways I thought of the same thing last season but he's played with different linemates, not always the best ones and he still produces, not that he excites me but I don't think you can equate him with one of the "Trois Denis Line" which Fletcher drafted in 80.

Nope, Adam Henrique centers Hall and Nemisz.

Not always. When the Spits need to spread out the top three Nemisz centers his own line.

If I had of said, "I think Hall plays centre", than you'd be correct in correcting me but I said "I dont' think Hall plays centre", so you should have said "Yeah,.....".

Do you watch him play? I do, every week, his skating is not an issue.
There is a lot to be excited about where he is concerned.

Nemisz hasn't been playing a ton with Hall or Henrique these playoffs... although they do get some shifts together. He's been playing centre a bit on a line with Justin Shugg (who'll get drafted this year) and Kenny Ryan (Leaf pick) on the 2nd/3rd line (not the shutdown line). They do move him up with Hall and Henrique on the PP and late in games.

Well it sounds like Nemisz has better hands but in any case Rob Niedermayer has played 1000+ NHL games so it wouldn't be a disaster to pick up that kind of player in the late first round.

I haven't watched Nemisz play a lot, but a couple players he reminds me of are Mike Knuble and/or Ryan Smyth. Big body presence in front of the net and decent hands for deflections and garbage goals.
Nemisz may not have the skating ability of Lombardi, but he can get where he needs to be.
Surprisingly, he gets grief for not being the flashy, dangling prospect that so many want the Flames to draft. I would rather have a solid top six like Nemisz than flashy players like Christian Dube and Chris Taylor who look good in junior and end up being career AHLers.

considering Calgary's track record of developing any talent in the last decade, i think it's hard for people to let themselves get excited about any forward, let alone a guy who probably is a guy that needs a playmaker on his line.
Top 6? Nemisz might be a career AHL'er too...
