This is why bloggers shouldnt be called reporters. Quite possibly the stupidest question I have ever heard.
Quote:
Q: Can you do anything to make these phones more safe so people wont’ use them when they shouldn’t be using them (like when driving).
A: I think we do more than most to connect our phones into cars’ control systems. We’ve done a great job for handsfree calling and such. We’ve done a better job on that than everyone else.

Microsoft has been ragged on a ton for doing things that hurt the user experience to simply to pull in more cash and making users pay for incremental upgrades, etc. A lot of folks that care about those types of issues when Microsoft does it seem to think that satiric misspelling is the pinnacle of wit.

I'm at school and missed the event. Any hardware info? As in Gen 4 iPhone or no? Should I look at a 3Gs this summer or hold off?

No hardware info...just software. Definetly go 3gs, since 3g wont be able to multitask

It sure looks like I should. I just don't want to upgrade in August and then when I have to renew my contract have the new one come out.
However I want mutlitasking. It seems everyone is getting an iPhone now and they won't be able to apprecate what all us 1st and 2nd gen users went through.

In the engadget Q/A there was mention of a new phone. Nothing direct but it was mentioned.

I'm sure a new phone will be coming out in the summer. Just as it has every year.

I'm reading the multitasking stuff.. uhhh.. man I wish this wasn't under NDA. Not overly happy as a dev. I can't do what I want to do.

I really have no idea what you are talking about. User experience? Incremental updates? I thought we were talking about advertising platforms.
No one has ever ragged on Microsoft's advertising platform.

Besides the fact that I have a 3g, and wouldn't get the multitasking anyway, there is nothing in os4 that would make me give up the jailbreak I already have.

You can ask it, but I can only answer if it was something presented.

Yeah I did that and it was easy. Sold my 3G on kijiji and pretty much broke even.

I was talking more generally about Microsoft's reputation at using certain tactics to get more revenue sometimes at the expense of the user, not specifically about an advertising platform.
Parallels of similar behavior could be drawn between apple wanting to fill it's app store with ad filled apps or making all of the iphone's early adopters update to the latest incremental revision of their hardware to get what should have been a pretty basic software feature like multi-tasking.

I did but it was only because I basically flirted with a man for 45 minutes until he gave in. It was my finest hour. I doubt I'll be able to do it again once the new model comes out in the summer, but I'll give it a whirl.

How about this: I know you want GPS to run when the phone is locked, and I notice they didn't mention that ... Can I assume the gps still turns off when the phone is locked?
