I remember reading a article that the Navy had picked up bizarre strange noises on their sonar sets.
I agree, there's probably life down there that we have never seen.
I mean there's a jelly fish called the immortal jelly fish that reverts back to its infant form after mating. The belief is that the first one of its species might still be alive.
Didn't they just find the first intact remains of a colossal squid last year?
I imagine there is a lot of messed up looking stuff down there, Plant Earth showed us some pretty interesting stuff at depths.
Would it not be very under populated in the depths though? That makes me think it would be very tough for larger animals to survive, and force the bigger monsters up to feed and leave the depths to weird solo hunters.
Yep, in antartica. around 40 feet long. and they think it was a child
The amount of the ocean that has not been explored just leads me to believe that there is some things down there that just boggle the mind. I'm not saying that there is going to be a Kraken or something ridiculous down there, but for there to be some type of alpha predator of gargantuan size, I would not be surprised in any way.

This would be the reason why I refuse to swim in the ocean when I can't see the bottom.

Whenever I've gone scuba diving this is in the back of my mind. Who knows, it may be irrational but it's only irrational to the extent that the belief of life on other planets somewhere, anywhere is irrational, there is just so much out there we don't know.....

Pretty ugly creature. But nothing a little garlic butter wouldn't fix up.
The chinese know that giant isopods are best boiled and eaten with rice. I'm not kidding. They eat them in Taiwan. Remember, it's always better to eat them before they eat you!
I'm guessing they taste just like crab or lobster...or centipedes. They all from the same family.

Same phylum (arthropods) but not even close to the same family. Isopods are crustaceans (as are the woodlice in your garden), so probably closer to crab than anything else. I don't think I'd eat one, even though I don't have much problem eating most other arthropods. I was offered horseshoe crab once in Singapore, and debated, but turned it down.
As the song says: "Just because we're not as cute as kittens or things, doesn't mean we need to go extinct." Not that they're in any danger of extinction, being a deep sea scavenger is a pretty cushy niche.
