Fun game, but my gf doesn't havwe the patience to let me play it 2 hours everyday...

I don't think so... I'm 99% sure he's still the every day centerfielder.

For some reason, every game, my manager has Snyder at CF and Wells at RF... I'll have to change that I guess, because it is somewhat annoying.

They're suggested (and then performed) automatically.
Assuming your PS3 is connected to the internet, it will check for patches/enhancements/updates to a game very time you start playing.
At least, that's what mine does, and it's also new.

I just got the game last night.
Played the first ST game and got hammered by the phillies then went on to sweep the season opener with the bo sox.
I get hosed on every single pitch on the corners and yet the cpu gets all the close calls.
Base running is hard for me. I cant seem to get the guys to run past 1st with out stopping.
my 3rd game against Boston they took the lead in the bottom of the 8th on a 2 run jack only to be had by Big Tex in the top of the 9th and Jeter hits a solo in the top of the 10.
I find pitching meter thing kinda hard. Also very annoying.

It's so dang hard to hit a homer. Pitch has to be perfect.
OH I want to trade Arod. god he is horrid. ground out, fly out, or a sweet Double Play.

It isn't the foul balls that bother me most, as that is baseball. It's them 2 damn fans leaning over the to try and catch a foul ball that's skipping along the ground. They never get the damn thing, so quit.
Downloaded the most popular set of sliders, and seemed to be okay, but was hitting home runs too often, so I tuned them a bit, and the game now has a nice variety.

Sliders? I haven't even touched sliders. Were are these "sliders" at?

Just beat the Nationals 4-3 on a walk off 2 run double by Alex Gonzalez before losing 11-10 to the Rays on a walk off 2 run single by B.J. Upton. I was the Jays both times.
I have yet to fiddle around with the sliders and have focused on getting used to the default settings and veteran difficulty. I do admit that the fielders' reaction times seem oddly instantaneous, so I plan on lowering those somewhat for realism's sake... at least until I improve quite a bit more. I think if I were playing on All-Star difficulty then the default reactions times would maybe seem reasonable.
My biggest problem still isn't hitting the ball -- I had 29 hits and 5 dingers in those two games combined (mostly grounders/liners up the middle) -- it's taking walks, basestealing, baserunning and situational hitting (ie. sac bunt / sac fly, staying out of the double play), that is taking a lot of time for me to "get".
Also, my fielding is still quite sub-par, so I have experimented with "Auto", "Assist" and "Manual" fielding assist toggle options. I'm quite comfortable with "Assist" and am working towards mastering "Manual" (the default setting).
Pitching seems hit and miss for me. I'll have four straight shutout innings, and then get into all sorts of trouble when the batters start laying off the bad stuff, the ump squeezes me out of a couple calls, and Evan Longoria steps to the plate and cranks a pitcher's pitch (practically in the dirt) out of the ballpark. I guess that's how it goes sometimes. I have noticed how important it is to stick with your bread and butter (best 2 pitches) when things get dicey, especially limiting your 4th and 5th pitches to favourable counts that will have the hitter off-balance. Everything seems to spiral even further out of control when I try to spot that #5 pitch on the outside corner, because it just isn't a very good pitch for that pitcher. It's either left near the middle of the plate, or goes so wide the catcher has to dive to keep it in front.
Overall, this is such a fun game.

The Show is known for it's customizability and configurability. There's practically a toggle or slider for everything.
When talking about "sliders", we are talking about the area-specific "difficulty" config scales for each part of the game.
You can change the default settings (which include these "sliders") by entering the gameplay options menu from the main screen. Otherwise, a rules/options screen pops up before you start each game which gives a smaller selection of options, including just 2 general sliders (I believe) in addition to the difficulty setting, etc. Here's a good short little thread on the subject from Playstation's boards that might clear things up for you further. http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/M...C8BE3FDE9F9666

Oh, I finally realized that when calling an arm from the pen, those 8 pitches to warm up are awfully important as you can use them to increase their effectivness (little blue bar beside the pitch type). I had normally just skipped them as they were boring to do. My bad.

I think if your pitcher is properly warmed up it doesnt make a difference. I thought that the warm up pitches we're so you could get a handle on your new pitchers delivery.

Haha. In my RTTS I just about got nailed in the head by the pitcher, next pitch I lined drived right off his head. That will teach him.

You may be right, as I rarely ever bring my bullpen in when they are at a full red bar. Maybe that is why my pitches increase as I go through my 8 pitches. But the more I think about it, I have gotten some of my pitches to damn near full effectivness by doing this. Food for thought....
