I've only played 5 innings, in that 5 innings of Jays versus Royals I was down 3 to 2. So not a wipeout but still a lot of game left. I've struggled mostly with hitting, that PCI keeps changing I think after every pitch which confuses me. I would like to know if it's possible to say hit a homerun from a low fastball and you are pointing up with the left analog in order to fly ball it. I remember some Triple Play baseball games that were based on having to point the left analog where the ball was going versus where you wanted to send the ball. Where you send the ball was purely based on swing timing. Don't know if MLB 10 is the same idea.

Don't you hate it when you let a guy on base and then you pitch to the next guy to find out your timing slider starts going really fast, and screwing you up?

Bought this game at Noon. Can't wait to get home and play. Once everyone practices and gets familiar with this game, we should start up a CP league.

Has anyone else played online yet? I did, and the lag was brutal. I'm wondering if it was the game or the person I was playing because I've heard bad things about the lag in the 09' version.

The PCI changes after the game determines if your guess pitch type/location is correct. If the type is correct, the PCI simply stays the same size and you can gear up for that pitch. If the location is correct, the PCI stays the same size and locks in on that location. If neither is correct then the PCI shrinks slightly.

The Show is similar to the Triple Play games you described. You point the analog stick towards where the ball is and the direction and height of the hit is determined by swing timing and how accurate you were in following the ball with the analog stick.

I think that's the key. You've gotta be able to lay off, instead of just swinging at anything. It's bloody hard though, especially with some big bats up at the plate.

This could have been my post, word for word.

Copy is sitting on my desk, and for the first time in a decade, I've become a "Clock Watching Employee". Home time can't come soon enough, sorry Boss.

LOL. Boss is gone for the day, I have read the manual twice and have been surfing the net looking for tips.

I've played The Show last year and the new copy and I've found that having it on actually makes me hit much worse.

It's a good thing to have on to learn how the hitting system works, but when I have it on I feel like I'm controlling the PCI too much instead of just following the ball and reacting to the pitch.

I am pretty impressed with it so far. Once I get some practice in I should be good to go. Going to create a RTTS player, 2B with 1B as secondary. 1B is a great way to make points.

Not to sidetrack too much but anyone ever get an occasional black screen flash/flicker while playing or watching a Blu-ray? Something I noticed on my new Slim, happens usually after a good 30 mins or so, very infrequent but annoying when it happens. Using a decent HDMI cable I think. Heard that PS3's have a tendency to change up resolution or sometimes the hookup to the tv will actually hiccup the resolution if 1080p is selected.

I started my RTTS, drafted by the Jays. I created myself as a player with same stats so I can go practice all the time.

Played my first full game, Yankees versus Nationals. I won 6-3 with 16 hits, no homeruns, 8 K's using Burnett. Not too shabby for my first full game. Nationals scored in the 8th and 9th. As soon as my reliever came in it went to crap, either that or the AI really pressures you in the 9th.

Can't wait to play a few games this weekend. Spent my time yesterday practicing hitting and pitching.

How long does it take to play a game? I'm not the kind of person who has time anymore to sit down for hours at a time for a proper gaming session - if I'm lucky I can get three games of NHL 10 strung together. How long is a typical game in the Show?

Thanks!

I am a vet of this series and hitting is still pretty hatd for me. I am a tweener in that Veteran is way too easy, even with the sliders turned down, and all-star default sliders is too hard.

Here's what I do:

I play on All-Star and jack up all my hitting to full. I lower the CPU one to the left on contact and solid hits and move their power up 1.

I play with guess pitch 1/4 classic and PCI on.

For the first two stirkes I only swing if I have guessed correctly and it locks in, or if it is 2-0, 3-1 and I have guessed fastball correctly I may take a swing. I still move the left analog stick along with the pitch as if i was going to hit, but only to get practise.

If I get to two strikes, I may or may not use the guess pitch. If the pitcher has a good assortment of pitches and some nasty stuff, I tend to protect low and pick his hardest pitch.

If it is a guy with only average stuff where he doesn't have a pitch that drops off the table, I may only zone in on a location OR pitch, thus reducing the penalty for guessing worng, or if I am feeling it that game I will not guess anything, eliminating potential penalties.

I choose this way, not because I couldn't hit without guess pitch or PCI, but more because it also allows me to draw walks, something I would not do ifthey were off as I would swing at the first pitch that looks remotely in the strike zone.

I am playing a test franhchise with the Braves until Monday when the updated roster get corrected (potentials are all messed up) and then I will start my real 'chise with the Jays and a National League team (was going to be the Phils but having fun with the Braves). My results after the first series with the Cubs are 3 wins. 3-1, 7-3 and 4-0. My batting average was only .239, Cubs were .265 or so, but I had 5 HR to their 1 over the series.

Oh I also turn the fielder running speed down two to the left and same with fielder reaction. This is global so it affects your guys. I may even bump that down further. I find this increases extra base hits as the fielders get way too good of a reaction off the bat at default.

I hope that helps! let me know if you guys have any other questions. A good resource is the forums at Operation Sports. It's a video game site dedicated to only sports games (that's all I play!)

Typical game for me is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I watch a little of the stuff in between pitches but not all. It has an option of Fast Play but that takes away a lot of the beauty of this game.

The thing with this game though is it has in game saves. So you can play as long as you want. The only thing with that is you lose the highlights from earlier in the game if you quit, in the post game highlight package. I only use it sparingly becaise of that, but if you aren't interested in that sort of thing you could play a couple innings here and there and save whenever you want.

The detail this game has is incredible. I was playing an exhibition game with the Yankees and red Sox as I always love to check out Fenway in games. Not a Red Sox fan, but Fenway is the ultimate ballpark to me.

Anyway, CC is on the bump and Victor martinez comes up. Hudler chimes in with, "these guys are former teammates, I wonder who will have the advantage".

Another cool thing is the Molina's will acknowledge each other before an at bat when they play each other.

There are pink bats on Mother's Day.

Blue wirst bands etc on Father's Day.

They mention Jackie Robinson day.

Balls hit down the line now have much more realistic spin and will curve around the bag and hit the wall before rattling in the corner.

There is so much more, it is truly an unbelieveable game. In fact, my boss is sick today and I am the only one in my department in the office, so after meeting a vendor in an hour for some free lunch and beer, I am going home to play!

^^This.

In '09 I was lucky to finish in under an hour. Played my first '10 game last night and took almost 2 hours. Of course, watching all the new cut scenes and extras didn't help.

For those who played The Show '09.....

Did you find your timing required adjustments? I could see & time Sliders and 4-Seamers perfectly in '09, but couldn't quite get it right in '10.

Just curious to know if it's rust or if the game was slightly tweaked.
