I was checking tickets for the men's gold medal hockey on VANOC this morning. Someone actually bid $111,000 for 4 premium seats to that game.

Holy farck.

Edit: just checked it again and it's changed to $11,000. Now I feel less poor. That typo probably deterred some bidding for a while.

That would have happened in any city the Olympics are held, including Calgary(if we would have gotten the 2010 bid) This day and age, and with the dollars that are thrown around for games to be held, protesters will be everywhere.

Chances are those trouble making protestors (as opposed to the law abiding ones) weren't even from Vancouver.

They charged the alleged group leader who is from Vancouver. though yeah, I'm sure there were many from outside the city.

to soulchoice, Calgary had a somewhat big event recently with no riots like this.

The Olympics has shown me Spending a few days in America, and not saying this as a knock against them, but I love how we celebrate our athlete's success. Being in a bar watching a sport nobody would think of watching was it not for the olympics and just seeing the smiles and high fives after a Canadian medal.

Also it reminded me of how much I love Vancouver. I can't stand when sports arguments go outside just the teams and into why a certain city is better then another. It has to be one of the most beautiful city in North America.

Off topic but from what I remember hearing right after, they were "known to Vancouver police". Funny how after that event you never heard anything about them....

Just how boring and pathetic most peoples lives are...... People are sitting around watching sports they know nothing about and almost crying just because their own country won. Nothing but sheep. Too much pride. Your country or nationality are nothing to be proud of... you're born into them. You can be happy about those things but.. proud? Thats ridiculous. Be proud of your own accomplishments.... The country didn't win any medals. You didn't win any medals. The athletes won those medals, not Canada. If you think for one second that any of these athletes compete for their country, you're gullible. Also, i learned that the Canadian womens hockey team are hillbillies.

Boring and pathetic as opposed to your wonderful and fulfilling life of going to on the interwebs and berrating people for cheering on their country? You sure showed us! I stand humbled in your presence!
