This game probably isn't the best measuring stick as Canada won't face a defense that poor again and the Swedes look really, really good.

I'll admit I watched ZERO Russian hockey besides this game and just going off of what the announcers were saying.

Best part of the night -> wooohooo team Canada won, off to the semi-finals we go!
Worst part of the night -> where my friends here in TO stated they were amazed at iggy this tournament, and how "that guy needs a center to play with".

Ohhh very true, completely forgot about that play. Yeh Iggy took 2 Russian players and kicked the puck free which ended in a goal.
Good call, likely would have been an assist in the NHL as they are less stingy with those (if it wasn't an assist tonight, didn't look).
Anyways ya, Iggy had a good game.

Best part is that I get to ban Vlad the Impaler!
Putting Morrow on that line with Perry and Getzlaf got them going, and Toews and Richards with Nash were great as well. Fun times, there is no team I enjoy beating as much as Russia. Kicking the crap out of them is even better, go back to communism

The CTV site is showing it as an assist. So they must have changed it to one after the fact.

OH MY FRICKEN GOD!!!!
(Sorry about the caps)
THAT WAS THE SECOND MOST AMAZING GAME OF HOCKEY I HAVE EVER ATTENDED IN MY LIFE!
(First still goes to Game 6, Nucks vs. Rangers 1994)
WE DIDN'T JUST BEAT THE FRICKEN RUSSIANS.
WE KILLED THEM!!!!
Ryan, I will never doubt or question you again. You were obviously resting yourself for when it meant the most.
I'm off to get horribly smashed in this amazing Olympic town. Wow . . .

I don't think Russia played that awful in the 1st, but Canada just played incredible in the opening period and really took it to them, making the Russians look worse than they were.
They did look awful for the 2nd and 3rd periods though. The Canadians got the Russians off their game and you could see they had no direction for the last two periods. Players trying to go 1 on 4 on every chance.

the only thing that worries me about Team Canada now is after thrashing the Russians soundly, they don't come out with the same fire against Sweden on Friday that they had in the first period tonight. this is where Babcock and co. will have to earn their keep, if Canada comes out with the same level of intensity that they had at the drop of the puck tonight then there's no stopping them

Fingers crossed they don't waste Thursday. A high tempo practice should keep them going into Friday. Having the lines sorted out now helps tons too.

Ya, and he definately did kick the puck to Toews. So it wasn't even a "you worked hard so we'll give you one" kind of assist
I really wish the media would ease up on the Crosbyfest and put some more praise on Iggy, he's been awesome & relatively unnoticed.

True that, I even wore my Team Canada Iginla shirt ( even though i have been made out to be Team Canada Hating ######) today! When she gets home I should greet her at the door wearing nothing but my Iggy shirt and holding a sign that says EH! OH! Canada GO! 7-3 ... I am sure that will go well!! It's all in the details boys!

The KHL line was good until they met actual NHL players and they quickly disappeared. The KHL players tonight looked slow, weak, and of no competition to the Canadians.

It sure is a changing of the guard in Canadian hockey.
The youth of the team was fearless and they were the difference makers.

Yeh I've been tuning out most of the pre game and post game love-in's from the media, it's been pretty sad.
Crosby may be Canada's best player and all around great hockey ambassador but there are more than 1 players on this team. Heck even when they mentioned Iggy's tournament leading goals they have to add in "against lower quality teams". It gets old. Heck almost no mention of the other young super stars really making this team what it was tonight.
Oh well most true Canadian hockey fans know what's what.
