I do agree that Iginla should have been used more. I thought that shift he had in the 3rd with Morrow and Richards was the best shift for Team Canada in the 3rd and it looked like they were trying to set the tone again. Babcock should have put them out again after that. The only logical reason I have for him not playing Iginla as much in the 3rd is that hit he took affected him more then we think. But then he shouldn't have been out all in the 3rd. Oh well I guess we will find out one way or another soon.

Babcock has already stated that he benched Iggy in the 3rd and OT.

I didn't watch much past the 1st, but would the reason Iggy had hit TOI cut back be because he was more hurt then we know?

Still think Canada's got the best team, but watching the game I can't believe Stamkos and Bouwmeester were left off for some of these guys, if Doughty is here due to some form of "youth movement" Stamkos should of been one of the top picks Yzerman made.
Also, with 6 other defenseman use to playing 25 minutes a game I'm sure Green being in Vancouver as a PP specialist wouldn't be the worst decision in the world. Anyone got the stats for the game, how much time did Seabrook play anyways?

How did he say it though.....did he actually say "ya we benched him"
or did he get asked if the reason for Iginla's ice time was Injury, and his answer was no.

Im sure he has his reasons. Well I am hoping that it will wake Iginla up even more and would love to see him get another hattrick on Sunday.

meanwhile, was altered again, this time with Babcock running out of patience with an oddly sluggish Jarome Iginla and deciding to move Rick Nash to right wing and put Jonathan Toews on the left side

I'm still tryna figure out why Boyle and Niedermayer got so much power play time. Boyle's shot is absolute garbage they might as well have me on the PP

Had an idea!

If Babcock benched Iginla because he thought he was playing poorly than I'm cheering for Finland.
What a load of horsecrap.

Watched the game at the beagle pub in Victoria, and the place was electric. You could tell everyone was nervous when the Swiss tied the game, but the place absolutely erupted when Crosby scored. That game was closer than it should of been, hopefully Canada fins their scoring touch soon.

Let's just say Nash scored 3 goals last game.
Tonight you need a goal in a tie game. Nash is basically stapled to the bench in the 3rd........a couple shifts, no PP time, no OT shifts.
I think there would be similar questioning here of how Babcock used his forwards in the latter parts of the game. It doesn't seem like it right now, because Iginla is a Flame, and this is a Flames fan site.
But basically benching him after the 2nd is a very strange move, IMO. But I'll wait until I hear his comments before I come to a conclusion.

that's one thing that seems to drive me crazy Olympics after Olympics, its like the brass always seems to need to have their quirky decision that sets them apart, because apparently its just too straightforward to go with the obvious guys
(and I'm not saying this regarding Iginla, just the interest in the 12 goal scorer they forgot to even invite to camp)

I was just gonna say, in the few shots of Iginla sitting on the bench and in the celebratory scrum at the end, he looked very upbeat and positive.

well only two of the five were against Hiller, the rest of the boys have him solved

I too am holding out the actual act of digging out the torches and pitchforks because I cannot fathom how Iggy would be benched after his play for the first game and a half. He has been one of the best forwards on the team and a top goal scorer, that cannot be denied. I suspect there was a reason but he didn't seem hurt to me, and I can't see him playing a checking roll if the risk of injury was present.
That said if he was in fact benched... well it's not like I had much faith in the team to begin with, but at least we can blame it on the coaching and bench management.
Silly night either way.

Iggy is always a classy guy and will always have a huge grin on. The NHL really needs more players with a personality like his, I guess that's what makes him so unique and such an amazing person tho.

Agreed. I can tollerate losing because we aren't good enough but losing because the coach has certain likes and dislikes for players is unacceptable. If we play a game against a quality opponent and Babcock chooses to do that again we can all but say goodbye to the gold medal. If you don't like Iginla and the way he plays the game, fine. To repeatedly play guys that you do like even when they are playing terrible is UNACCEPTABLE. This doofus could possibly be our undoing.
