Edge of Darkness
Didn't wanna bog down the "Recommend a Movie" thread with this, but I just saw this last night and needed to say something about it. That's the worst movie I've seen in theatres in a long time. The death scenes were pretty cool, as was the fact that it was cheap Tuesday so I got free popcorn and a free soda along with the ticket. Those were the two highlights of the movie. I usually like Mel Gibson movies but this was just awful.
Anyway that's it, I don't care if this thread dies a terrible death now. Just wanted to let people know to save their money.
Spoilers in white: They didn't spend near enough time building the relationship between him and his daughter at the start, so you don't even really care when she gets glocked. Considering that's supposed to be the main drive for the rest of the movie, I think that's a pretty big drop of the ball.
Also, was I the only one that wanted them to explain that whole nuclear arms angle more? That was a really interesting plot, and then they just pushed it to the wayside so it didn't get in the way of all the killing. Ok, so the execs at the company wanted to nuke American cities and then blame it on Al-Queda. But why?? What's the motive? Just because they're dicks? I know they mentioned something about Eastern Europeans, but I needed more explanation there, kinda lame how they just left it at that.
Wow are there some awful one liners too: "You're either being nailed to the cross, or driving in the nails", or when it looks like he's about to collapse and then he's like "No...not yet". And all I could think about when he had the guy yelling "CRAVEN!!!" was Simpsons: MENDOZAAAA!!!! I laughed a few times out loud over some of those, and I wasn't the only one. Him constantly talking to his daughter after she was dead got pretty cheesy too, I was laughing when they strutted out of the hospital together at the very end. So funny.
