My brother could finish that pizza... He's a skinny little runt with a giant appetite.

I'm sure DJpatm would prefer Pizza 73, chump!

Trust me, I'm a total beer snob and if there were something better than Amstel Light at Grimaldi's I would have had it. They had standard US macrocrap and Brooklyn Lager at Grimaldi's. I tried the Brooklyn Lager and it was just blah. There was nothing to it you couldn't find anywhere else in any beer, despite the fact I have heard good things about that brewery. They didn't have any of the other beers you mentioned at Grimaldi's so I haven't tried those.
Speaking of which, I was excited to try a Rogue beer and found the Chocolate stout in a bar on the upper east side. To be honest, it was only stout in name and colour. It was not in the least bit chocolately and had that carbonated feel I get from Sam Adams. I haven't tried many US microbrews but the best one I've had so far is the IPA by Lagunitas, although I'm not a fan of US brews on the whole. Sam Adams, Moose Drool, Brooklyn Lager, Rogue Chocolate stout, etc I didn't think much of. It was halloween and they had 6 different pumpkin seasonal brews I tried in a sampler and only one of them was really good. It was at David Copperfields.

It's a cool excursion if you've already been to NY a few times and seen the major attractions. You walk the Brooklyn Bridge which if I'm not mistaken is 1-2km, so it doesn't take that long and see a different view of Manhattan and the statue of liberty. You walk along the apartments that look like where the Cosby Show was filmed back in the day and with the help of a map arrive at the waterfront of Brooklyn. Grimaldi's is right there and the old ice cream shop across the street on the pier is pretty decent.

Don't bother with Lombardi's anymore. The place was sold a few years ago, and th quality of the ingredients went downhill with the new ownership. It's still good, but it's no longer what it used to be (it used to be my favorite, I went there all the time whenever Sbarro's was closed or too full). I had an inkling things wouldn't turn out well when the place started selling tshirts and souvenirs of itself....
Grimaldi's is imo the best pizza going at the moment. There are a lot of great pizza joints in town, but that place is heaven.

Grimaldi's should be on everyones list as a major excursion. NY is one of the best cities for food in the world, and taking advantage of it beats lot of the other touristy things. Would you rather spend a couple of hours having one of the best food experiences of your life, or watch a couple of drama queens dance around in lion costumes?

Is this thread seriously about eating chain-store pizza while in New York?

Not to turn this into a NYC pizza thread, there's plenty of those elsewhere, but when I lived on Long Island there was a great place called Ciros in Floral Park. If you ever find yourself out there (maybe if you're going to the Flames/Islanders game? It's relatively close to the Nassau Colliseum) try a Chicken Marsla or Chicken alla Vodka slice. Incredible.

I AM, so i WILL! Lot's of Long Island excursions these days as the gf's family lives there, so I'm more than glad to try a few new places along the way.
If you ever find yourself in Port Jefferson, LI....you have to make your way to the Steam Room. I know it sounds like a place full of sweaty russians, but this is a great little seafood shack (and the town itself is pretty great too). It's as good as the Lobster Roll, but half the price. I find myself making excuses to go visit my gf's family just so I can go to this place.

Not necessarily. I believe the Olive Garden was also mentioned a few pages back.

Which is literally right across the street from Lombardi's, a pizza place that is consistently rated among the best in the country.
I'm just giving you a hard time though. Rice to riches is too expensive for what you get, but it is a cool place.

Rice Pudding and pizza isn't something that I'd want to eat right after each other.
It is really expensive but it was a cool place and all signs and writing they had on the wall was pretty funny too.

My uncle lives in Hoboken and there's a Grimaldi's there as well, went to that one.
Didn't get a chance to walk the Brooklyn bridge which is high on my to do list for next time.
